What is the truth?

In the GT package the audio has been reportedl to have above par sound.

I realize that one can spend plenty on thrid party audio, but is the one that Mazda supplies better than average?

Your oppinions please.

My opinion: It's just OK. Highs are not entirely crisp, I don't sense any sonic "depth" (i.e, feeling of full surround). I've heard it's way better than the base sound system and I'm no audiophile so it's good enough for me. My opinion: It should oughta be better but I'm not really complaining. I guess that's what you get in a car of this price range. Has anyone found good settings of bass/treble/fade/balance that improve noticeably on the sound?

 

I was able to listen to the system for about 10 minutes or so. The Bose setup in the 8 is what I would call fairly natural sounding. I also thought the imaging was pretty good as well in the front seat. If you like harsh or crispy topend, then you will most likely not like the Bose setup. The bottom end was tight and accurate from what I could tell. Some people may want to add a sub for extra bottom.

Actually I did a Google search for "RX8 review" and came up with all sorts of hits. I also went to caranddriver.com, motortrend.com and roadandtrack.com and searched for "RX8' within each site.

I am certain it was withtin these last three sites that I came accross the article that boasted how the Bose system was one of the best stock systems as they worked "closely" with Mazda from the onset for the RX8.

BTW: Only after doing a Google search for "RX8 forum" did I come accross this wonderful site.
