BB8Guy, the visor slot works great for that kind of card. I always put my employee ID there. I've read here that you can push a card in too far and get it stuck. My ID card has a clip on the end, so there's no chance of it getting in too far.

Foxman: Sorry for the misleading info regarding "sliding cup holders".
My cover snaps into place very tightly. Only slides when I want it to.

Here's another thing people might miss (had my 8 since the first of the year and just now found out about it): In the rear seat, down by your feet next to the console, there is a little strap. How many of you know what it's for?

Is that the black strap at the back of the front seat? Isn't that to tilt the front seat forward when pulled?

Speaking of cupholders, has anyone found any sort of insert or good way to protect/clean the cupholders?

I tend to use mine a lot , and in my old car ever once in a while a bit of coffee would spill into the holder.. no biggie in my Talon since the cupholder was removable, I'd just bring it in the house and wash it off in the sink real well...

In the 8, it's part of the console itself.. so I'm wondering if perhaps there is some sort of insert, or an easy method to remove it should I want to clean it at some point? So far no spills (I'm very careful not to overfill the mug at the moment)

Dennis is good at making custom stuff..
Maybe he could design us a stainless steel insert...?!?

Really love the car!
The only complaint I have is the e-brake was not covered in leather when I bought it. It just has the rubber handle. I wonder how that happend?

I enjoy reading the posts here and have learned a lot.
Keep up the good work!
If I were you I'd go to the dealer and demand the the leather e-brake.. I thought it was one of the standard features. The two shinkas I saw both came stock with that e-brake and it is an expensive add-on. Maybe someone swapped it out.

the best way to protect them is to not drink in the car

actually I only allow water in the car in closed containers

Its in there BB8--its covered by a little flap at the back of the console--I haven't seen any RX8s without it.

Speaking of sliding panels in the 8. I broke mine the other day. It is suprisingly easy to do. I slide the panel back almost all the way back (about 1/8" from totally back) Then I lifted up and the cheesy little plastic piece snapped right off. Luckily the dealer is replacing it for free.

lol, this is great!! I didn't know about the card holder on the visor!! I'm going to check that out!! I don't know who said it first, but I agree, it's like getting a new mod to your car!

Did ya'll know that you can change the lighting scheme on your gauges from white to red? There's a switch/button somewhere to the left of the steering wheel (not sure where). Have to thank Mr. Ed for this one.

The lighting on the gauges is supposed to be red when you turn on the light. But sometimes you need to turn on the light during the day. In that case, the red gauges will be too dark to read. So you turn the switch all the way up to make them white. If you leave the switch in that position, the white gauges may be too bright at night. So it's not really a feature for you to change the lighting scheme.

Its got a great appearance and functions well.....Ive got one complaint....it can be a bit difficult to slide it back in position after its been pushed all the way back....maybe its because I have to sit a little more foward...I like to be close to the clutch and Im only 5'8"....Does anyone else have that problem?

It looks like they shifted the seat heater switches more towards the passenger side as well.

Yes, I am 5' 8" and I have the same problem. There was one time that I just opened it half way, and then as soon as I accelerated, it slided back hard and I thought it broke. Luckily it did not.

oddly enough it is in different locations on different vehicles...on NAV equiped vehicles they are centered...for mean this is a pain in the a$$ since my forearm already bumps the nav joystick when I'm shifting and then to be in the middle of summer and have my **** like a pizza pan...well that is annoying

so low on my list of mods is to recess the switches and the nav controller half to 3/4ths into the console...should be okay then.

I don't have any problems sliding the center console back closed. Of course i have the seat all the way back as I am 6'7". lol. My problem tends to be hitting my knee on the dash near the radio when i climb in.
