Side lights not working??

So here I decide its about time I installed my clear side markers...everything is going fine, and I install the new 194 bulb I purchased from http://autolumination.com/. Decide to test it out on only one side and see if it is indeed amber when it blinks. Use turn signal, front and rear lights blink but no lights on the side marker...hmmm....try hazard lights and now both side markers are not blinking including the one I haven't even touched!! So I say, ok lets put in the original bulb and it should be fine, maybe the amber bulb doesn't work. Guess what....it didn't help! Sigh..... so I decided I better call up the dealership and see if they can fix it and now I have to leave my car with them the whole day tomorrow!!! I hope they fix it and give me my car back by tommorow evening!!!

Anyways, I had to rant somewhere.....btw can someone clarify this for me because it will help me decide if the side lights ever worked or not. When you lock your car using the keypad(couldn't think of the right word), do your front, rear and side lights blink or is it only the front and rear? I ask because all this while only the front and rear lights blink when I lock my car. I just realized wrong forum to ask this question.

ha ha...good laugh of the day listen...there are those who have rewired these lights to make them turn signals but right now they are only signal markers/parking lights not side turn signals

but a few things to remember...if you haven't already: remove the reflector in the side marker and if the laws in your state allow put in a bright white 5 led bulb instead of amber...it will match the HIDs and look sweet (also swap the inner signal marker...the one closest to the Mazda signal with the same bright white 5led bulbs to match)

Ok, does anyone know how it feels to feel like a jacka$$? Thats what I'm feeling now...... :D OMFG, that explains everything. The first thing I did after reading this was to go check and damn were you guys right. Atleast I can say that I did a search before posting..... :p

I'm gonna do a quick google on state laws on side lights, but if anyone has any info on NJ laws maybe you could point me to it. Thanks for the help guys and now I don't have to take my car to the dealership :D

Huh? Are you guys referring to the "horizontal plastic bits" near where the front wheel arch joins the front bumper?

See the attached picture to make sure we are talking about the same part.

If it indeed is the same part you guys are talking about, then it appears the US model don't use these as "repeater" side indicators.

Mine, along with thousands of other Australian ones, do flash whenever the other indicators are operating.

Maybe something to do with Australian design regulations?

Also, we get the clear markers standard.

I'm absolutely sure that it has everything to do with Aussie regulations, or at least US DOT regulations VS Aussies / the rest of the worlds regulations. I KNOW that many US states don't allow non-amber sidemarkers. So, Mazda puts amber ones on all the '8s to cover those states. I'm sure that at least one state has a law against blinking sidemarkers, so they don't put them on.

They DO blink. Get back outside, turn on your blinker and just stare at them for a while, in your case it may take a few days!
