Show me your gauge mounts which aren't...
Which arent located in the standard tripod.

damn Dan, 5 gauges! haha, the Defi's match the stock dash perfectly!
looks good. Wish that the gauges came in the red lighting for the night driving too. looks good.
my god Dan, your dash is dusty, I see a handprint
lol dusty true... I was looking into the same guages, but in red. Not sure how I personally feel about the mounting up top though... whyd you go with that instead of something more molded to stock?
SORRY i didnt mean tripod (was late when i wronte that) i mean gauges which arent in the standard 3 at the centre speakers.
I bought a air vent pod and a 3 gauge pod but there is a 5th gauge id like to mount. I want something Oem any ideas? |
the other vent on the pass side?? haha
im not a fan of the ashtray method due to the fact you need to take your eyes a lot more off the road/track than if they were mounted in plain view.
depends what you are putting there. oil temp, oil press, and water temp aren't meant to be constantly monitored. Boost and AFR are though.
^^ EXACTLY! People often think the guagues are there to be looked at all the time. They're not, I just glance down at them from time to time to make sure everything is within range.
If I had boost or AFR, I'd use that new defroster mount |
right, but on the track (where i like to know everything is within spec) i tend to look at my gauges a bit more than if i were on the street.
And at track speeds, it can get hairy quick... so its always good to have your eyes ready to see something or someone you may have to avoid |
originally i wanted the Mazdaspeed JDM gauge pod, but i couldn't get the pod itself. everything else i just didn't like, so i just ended up using the pods that came with the gauges. the R-Magic one at the bottom i got for free, but if anyone decides to buy the R-Magic gauge pod, DON'T. it's simply a modified ashtray. you can build it yourself.
don't make fun of my dust. i live near a construction site!!! |
Does anyone know if you can fit a gauge where the cigarette lighter is? and keep the ash tray

dj: yup, I'll once again be leading the SoCal RX-8 caravan to Sevenstock. If you arrive early, you'll see about 50 of us pulling in at once, I'll be the black car up front. :D: Here's my DIY thread on the pods (it's a sticky in the Interior Electronics section) https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-interior-audio-electronics-24/diy-rb-gauge-pod-nordskog-digital-gauges-133938/
