Shift **** Adapter

Got a question, I am thinking of a momo shifter. I am not a fan of the voodoo ***** not my style. I see that this adapter(see link below) should work for the 8 since it has the same shift **** specs as the miata. My question is does the adapter raise the shift **** higher? I have used the search function and saw that some one used the adapter but the written instructions do not make a lot of sense. Also when you look at the attached picture it does not look like right. Any comments or thoughts would be greatly apprecaited

Sam, Scalliwag has a shifter similar to this. I don't know if it's a product he bought or if he made it himself, but it's worth looking into.

I had to cut off almost an inch to get my Momo fitting correcly...
Wish I hadn't cut it because my OEM **** will no longer fit when I get rid of my 8...

If it works for the Miata, should work with RX-8, the threads are the same. It also claims that it doesn't leave a gap between the **** and the boot so it doesn't sound like it's raised much, if at all. I'm assuming the Momo slides down further than the end of the insert.

Here are a couple of reviews from Miata.net. You might want to get specific with them about the particular model of **** you're planning on using....

I don't mean to hijack your thread, but why aren't there any rotory shaped shift ***** similar to what is in there now? Mine is starting to show signs of wear around the edges. I'd like something that is made of a better material.

That is the same reason why I am chaning my shifter, the wear on it pisses me off. The car is 2 years old, but the shifter is wearing.
