Satellite Radio Text not scrolling automatically?

I just picked up a satellite radio 'ready' '05 and had the manufacturer receiver installed.

Works great except for one small problem. The text field is only 8 characters long. When you press the display button, it should initially scroll the full text (of the station, artist, song), then revert to the first 8 characters of the text. (I had a Honda/Alpine XM tuner in my old Accord, it did scroll text automatically).

The manual says that it should do this...mine doesn't.

I called Mazda corporate and they had no idea what I was talking about.

Anyone else with this installed noticed this? If so, any workaround or way to make it act right?

I don't have SAT in my 8, but I do in my 6, same system. Sorry, but it is manual scroll only! Disapponting!

Swagman, thanks for the reply. Yep, I think it's a bit **** poor. The manual says that it should scroll. Not the end of the world, but I'm pursuing getting some answers out of someone. I emailed Sayno, no response yet. I'll post more info once I find something out.

The MP3 unit had the same issue, I never looked in the manual, I just assumed it was lazy firmware programmers. The "text" **** on the right side will move it back and forth. This was part of the reason I did not go through all that hassle for the factory Sirius and instead got outboard XM. (Not to mention the price -- I paid $100 for XM receiver + 3 months of service vs. near to $500 for factory sirius upgrade).

Is there a trick to get the unit to display any text at all? Mine only shows the current channel number and nothing else.

It will only display text if you are on Sirius Sat radio. CD/FM/AM/tape functions will not display text.

There is a button that says "DISP" this will toggle between text items and channel number.

I bought the Sirius (mazda oem) and installed it. The only thing I get when I press the disp button in the sirius units serial number. Nothing else. It will say Sirius when I switch to SAT.

What he said - press DISP and it will cycle through the displays.
