Well, For one, you can't advertise your services here without paying the forum fees. And for 2 that piece looks like crap. You couldn't pay me to install it.

How could you NOT want to buy this bubbly, melted-lookin' faceplate from such a well-spoken fella? He definitely knows how to deal with customers. Can you imagine the email he'd send in response to a complaint from a buyer?

"I gots your money, so go **** yourself."

Should I ask why you bothered to censor yourself with "B***h", but not with the "s-word"?

He's is right about the advert - you need to talk to the mods about being a vendor. I don't know the exact details. What are the available colors - the car colors? And I assume that is the ABS, does the fiberglass look more polished rather than what you show? Personally I don't think the ABS finish you show matches the car interior quality well, but that's me.....perhaps after you get things worked out, you can post some dif colors, 1 & 2 DIN, and both materials, and some w/logos.

And regardless of what is said, regardless of what some think of what you show....you are the 1st person who has shown up saying they have product now to go - that alone is a big plus to you - you've actually DONE something! Most who show up here, SAY they are going to do something, then never show again. Kudos to you.

You can always improve something...but you can't if you don't have anything to work with.

I like this piece becuase I hate having the ability to listen to the stereo AND have access to the climate controls at the same time. Also, the fit and finish look fantastic!

This will be a great replacement for the one I currently have on there, which is made of paper mache and electrical tape.

OK, now seriously...
nstlfrk - I believe you are ready and willing to make this product available to RX8 enthusiasts, but you're going to run into a few problems.
1. Vendor fees.
2. Quality of your product.
3. Your attitude.

Out of the three you can change two, and you can't pick the two.
Good luck with the savages.

That looks look like crap. Why would you think someone would pay for that?

If you want to business here I would reccomend responding with a different attitude. People on this forum are generally blunt and if you are not open to suggestions or criticism then I suggest you go on to a different forum. Like spin said, people like you come a dime a dozen and we get crap like this all the time. First contact the sight owner or one of our mods, after you get permission (paid) then open up a new thread about your product. I would also suggest better pictures. The ones you have up make your center console look like it's wrapped up in leather or vinyl, or just a flat color. IMO, thats probably not what people would be interested in only because they come piano black from the factory.

All kidding aside, I'll give him the benefit of a doubt and hope that the photo above makes the panel LOOK more misshapen than it really is. I just can't get over the way the "hump" over the Temp **** looks totally different than the same area over the Fan ****... And the upper corners of the piece, below the vents, look like they flare out, and the area to the left of the Fan **** looks completely gooey. Maybe in real life it doesn't look like that and there are some weird reflections...

Maybe some photos from other angles would help "sell" your piece?

Now that I look at it again, maybe you're right. It DOES look like it's wrapped in something, perhaps that's why it looks so odd.

As a business owner myself and the first Canadian to pull off this type of install, I say good for you on doing the work. Take the critisism as it is as you brought it on yourself. If you cannot listen to what your prospective customers are telling you, then you have absolutely no business here. I would suggest that you have a open to suggestions on how to improve your product type of attitude rather than a my crap don't stink kind of one. Nobody likes to see their hard work attacked by people in the way that I have read above. You guys up there that wrote those comments might want to consider his side of the issue before you go on. I think that the idea is sound, the product is in it's infancy still, yes in my opinion it needs some love. Show it the love it deserves based on the input of the forum, correct your attitude and offer the products to the site members as a paid advertiser. I have considered being a paid advertiser on this site myself, however, as I am in the Great White North, it is not in the best interest of the members of the site to purchase from me unless the price is right. Should I have been in the US, I would have been all over this. So basically it comes down to this. Shape Up or Ship Out. I would like to see you stay as you have a valued product for the members of the site. It's time for you to post some comments on what you plan on doing to rectify the situation that lay infront of you.

And I was giving my opinion of your "option". Your cuts for the DIN opening aren't even close to be straight, and the fitment along the sides is also off. It's obvious that you botched the piece and tried to cover your mistakes with vinyl (which you apparently have very little experience working with). At least I hope it's vinyl - if that's the finished ABS then you've got even more problems.

I wasn't bitching, I was informing you of the vendor fees (which you really weren't going to get in trouble for, since you hadn't posted a price yet. I was just letting you know) and expressing my opinion. Notice I didn't say anything along the lines of "omg I can't believe you did that to your car". I said it looked like crap (Find someone who think it looks good. Seriously) and that you couldn't pay me to install it.

As for you not caring - you're the one trying to sell something. Telling someone you don't care about thier opinions (on a public forum, no less) isn't a very good way to conduct business. Neither is cussing them out.

No, this isn't business. This is some making something in thier garage and presenting it as if it were a commercial product. This, my friend, is a waste of your time.

Go back and develop your skills. Make a presentable product and then try to sell it. There is a huge market for this if you can get it right.

And don't cuss out the customers.

IMHO, you should keep the AC controls in the stock location if you plan to mass-produce. The pictured setup shows that you won't be able to access the HVAC at all if you use the sort of head unit that has a pop-up screen. If that's what the customer wants, great, but I'd never buy a replacement piece for my dash that completely blocks one of the most commonly used sets of controls in the entire car. Furthermore, that's an awful lot of wasted space below the stereo... Why not keep the ashtray as-is, or at least provide a power port? Lots of people use that port for radar detectors, satellite radios, phone chargers, etc. Seems like it would be easy to mold a hole in there and use the exiting power port without taking up any room. Hell, add EXTRA power ports for those who want them.

Yuck.

Good luck, i'm sure with future improvements you will do fine, but as is, your product is poor.
