RX-8 Headunit DIN conversion kit

At last a JDM shop has produced one. I ran across it today in the Sept. 2005 issue of RX-7 magazine (JDM). Sorry... I missed the company name as I was all caught up on a couple other things I found (see other new threads)... Anyway the kit will allow not only the a/c to work, but the display as well and option for the steering wheel controls. The cost was about 86,000 yen I believe. I'll post more on it the next time I get a chance to check out the mag at the bookstore (maybe tomorrow...).

Not really. You just want it to be cheaper. To replace the HU in the 8 requires a bit of electronic work... look at what the mass produced one from metra for the Mzada6 costs... not cheap! It was a waste of their time since Mazda changed things up to a 2DIn setup... they should have done the RX-8. Anyway, this piece is still essentially custom work... go to any shop and have them hack up your 8 and it'll cost you the same or more.

I don't read Japanese.
Any idea what the thing is, in the cup holder compartment?
My guess is; they're switches like "DISP","AMB","SET" & "CLK", which they took out?

Japan8, cd u pls translate & summarize some of the major stuffs?
TIA.

This is what i do for a living. And its just over prices plexi with a few mazda dash accessories. But yes Japan8 is right. It will cost u about the same or more to get it installed. Seeing there is a factory amp that will cost u extra as well.

Here is a tip. If you have a facory amp buy one to replace it because its cheaper to have a new amp run than to invert one into an aftermarket deck.
