Review: eBay CD Changers

From this THREAD , I got it in the mail the other day and installed it yesterday. The changer was BRAND NEW in a Mazda box, it came with a strange little face plate that was broken (but not needed for the RX8). Installation went smooth, plugged in as should and it works beautifuly. I also got the face plate from mazdaparts.com, so all said and done I got a 6 disc for under $100 . So if you are looking for a 6 disc, go for it!

I got one from Carlo also. It's a great bargain if you're looking for a cd changer.

He has a new batch up for the same price... accepted offers for about $50, so if you don't like $85, you can try to haggle

You don't need any extra faceplate, reuse the existing one. The new faceplate is only needed if you insist on it to say 'cd changer'.

I just installed mine and works great! It only took a couple of days to get it too. Only thing is I just realised I forgot to plug back in the antennae for the radio. Doh. Never listened to it much anyway.

I got mine installed last week. Does anyone notice the change in sound quality with the changer?
For those who already ordered, really listen to your single player before you put in the changer.

What do you mean? Is it worse or better? I'm seriously considering this, but not if it's going to degrade sound quality. Thanks

I did't want to sway anyone one way or the other jusat because its my experience.
Worse or better, one thing for sure it is a dame good deal. I would do it again. In fact would get a second one for backup. I wish there is a box where we could put our finding and do tally in the future. If you have to know -the minus in clarity + the cool factor = single player.
just my experience.

It should fit perfect...fits an 05 and as far as I know there were no changes.

Got mine, easy install less then an hour. If you have a single and want six or if you just want a spare $100 is a lot better then $300 or $400.

install

I installed mine two days ago and am EXTREMELY Happy with it. The infamous blue tape frustrated the hell out of me, mostly because I couldn't find it to cut it, but the end result is AWESOME. Could never have done it without the RX8 club pictures and instruction, though.

I was having all kinds of problems with the single disc skipping ALL THE TIME but the 6-disc is great, no skips yet. Also, there were some comments on sound quality, but I am ntoicing improved clarity in the 6-disc over the single.

If you want to avoid any of the single-disc problems for around $100 (and who wouldn't) this is the way to go. Thanks Carlo!!!

I just ordered from Carlo. Based on your posts, sounds like this is a great deal!

He's trying to set up a vendor thing here, but hasn't figured it out yet.

If you want to bypass E-Bay and do this faster through Paypal - Call Carlo (aaaforeignauto) at: 800 736 3727

(He's also got rear spoilers, a front spoiler in yellow, sunroofs, sunroof deflectors)

I just got mine in the mail today, I won't be able to install until this weekend. It came with instructions and faceplate for what looked to be a Mazda 6 but it isn't a problem, the install instructions are here on this site and the existing faceplate will still work fine.

Hopefully my install goes well.

Update:

Ok, my install went quite well. It was much easier then I had expected because my hidden bolt was missing.

Near as I can tell, when I took my 8 in because the temp dials stopped working it looks like the dealer didn't put the bolt back in AND they broke a retaining clip in the center console part (where the shifter is)

Ok back to this product - Thank god I remembered to eject my CD from the single disc player, I almost forgot. The hardest part was finding the release clip on the main wiring harness, that took the longest for me.

Sound quality sounds the same, the CD changer is a little loud when changing/loading discs and a little slower to change discs then the factory 6 CD changer in our MS6. I can't complain though. aaaforeignauto on ebay has a great thing going for those of us looking for a 6 CD changer.

Finally installed my cd changer this weekend - it works GREAT!

A big shoutout to kristopher_d for helping both Marquis and I do the installs in our 8's!!! It went pretty smoothly.
