I was happy with everything but the license plate light. The LED projects a really sharp beam of light - but its narrow and doesn't fully illuminate the whole plate. Oh well - its still better than the stock light.

Frost the surface of the LED by using some very fine sandpaper. That will diffuse the light so that it is spread over a wider area and not such a sharp cutoff. Just do a little bit at a time until you're satisfied with the result.

Phantom Menace 02-07-2007 11:14 PM

damn, man...you're going to go blind--from them all them super whites. I tried the LED thing for the reverse lights. and although the light was "whiter" and more intese from the outside, from inside my car it seemed dimmer for some reason.

definatley take night pics...i'd like to see how bright them byaches are!?

oh btw, thanks for filling out my survey! ;)

BigOLundh 02-08-2007 02:28 AM

walking to driveway now with camera...

BigOLundh 02-08-2007 02:49 AM

Im telling you guys, my camera sucks. But if you want pics... here we go.
I'll try get better ones done whenever we do the full photoshop thing. God knows when that'll be.

I'll get the reverse lights later tonight. Too much trafic on the road for me to roll a camera stand into the street, and by camera stand i mean trash can.
Oh and i forgot the door jam, but its the same color as the other LEDs.

danlewisnet 02-08-2007 08:39 AM

THANKS man.... how close do the parking lights/fog lights match the headlights?

BigOLundh 02-08-2007 05:20 PM

The headlights are brighter because of course they are HIDs, the color is very similar tho. I tried taking a pic with my camera but it just came out as a huge blur. As soon as i get access to a good camera, i'll take some pics of it for you.

are you for real?
I do have one LED bulb left over, so i guess i can give this a try. So just get some fine sand paper and rub it over the lens? This sounds like a horrible idea.

Jedi54 02-08-2007 05:26 PM

umm, that sounds like a BAD idea. LED's are pretty fragile little guys.

Phantom Menace 02-08-2007 09:33 PM

BigO,
Keep us posted on how the LEDs standup, k? I want to replace my front missle-rocket-looking lights with LED but have heard horror stories of them melting and getting stuck. I've read it gets really hot in there?

Oh yeah, and can you post the part#'s for the bulbs you got?

:Peace:

BigOLundh 02-08-2007 10:09 PM

I think i already posted all the bulb codes on teh first page. If there is something in particular you were looking for let me know.

I definetely wouldnt recommend getting discount LEDs for your missle lights if heat is an issue. I've had my PIAAs in their almost 2 years now... with no issues.

BigOLundh 02-08-2007 10:12 PM

Oh wait, guess i never posted the part numbers - but it is in another stickied thread. Anyway... here we go again.

boanjangnararmine 03-10-2007 11:57 PM

online i found a bulb that is 8mmx28mm.. does anyone think this will work for the vanity mirror lights that are apparently 6mmx30mm?

Salamanth 03-12-2007 07:09 AM

BigO - you're probably safe to sand the LEDs, a few years back I did a project where I had to cram a few LEDs into a very small space and I actually held one on a belt sander for a few seconds to flatten out the tip :D:

Though, if you kill your LED, don't come after me with any weapons of ass destruction in hand.
