Replacement Key Question

Before anyone beats me up for posting a duplicate thread I DID use the search feature but was unable to answer my question.

I was looking at some of the switch blade uncut keys on ebay and I'm thinking about buying one. Does anyone have any opinions or warnings? Also does anyone know if it will work with an 04? I did ask the seller but I haven't heard back yet.

Thanks in advance!

For a used switchblade key, can you just buy an uncut blade, or do you have to buy the $40 key portion of the fob?

You can buy an uncut blade, yes - several dealers carry it, Rosenthal or Mazdaparts, for example. But it won't be cheap - and I have not seen just the key part on eBay recently.
Buying one of those uncut key / remote combos on eBay is probably the cheapest way to go since getting just the key portion costs almost as much as the eBay item.
