I just ordered 4 pairs of 194 Xenon Clear Bulb from www.macewenmotorsports.com on sale for $4/pr. These are xenon filled and twice as brights as stock (with no yellowish tint). They will replace all the interior lights, the license plate light, the side marker lights and the front marker lights.

There's no reason it wouldn't be legal, as long as you didn't have them flashing while you are driving

I don't drive with mine on, takes about 5 minutes, except the map lights, that part is tricky to get off.
The LED come in a variety of colors.

Hi All!

I want to replace all (three?) interior and the two exterior mirror lights with blue ones. Which LEDs do i have to order? I want them as bright as possible! :-)

There are so many type 501 LED on www.ultraleds.co.uk i don't know which ones are the brightest and still fit!

I think autolumination.com is much cheaper but are the LEDs from there as good as the ones from ultraleds.co.uk?

Just in case: what white LEDs should i order for the back-numberplate?

Thanks! Chris

Cool idea, but I'm not sure I like the color ... it contrasts a bit too strangely for my tastes.

Hi Guys,

Well, I got all the LEDs, but actually I'm not sure how to replace the standard ones with the new ones.

I never took anything off of any car except the braking light of the RX-8 to install the stealth version of the RX-8 logo.

So, what tools do I need? Where do I have to press, screw or whatever to get the stuff off?

I appreciate any help!

Cheers,

Mighty A-MAN

Hi rilot,

While I was too anxious in the first place (I just didn't want to break anything), I replaced most lamps a couple of days ago succesfully (except map lamps).

Thanks for your hint, I just found the page inside the manual discribing how to exchange the map lights.

Cheers,

Mighty A-MAN

Each state is different here in the US. Michigan isn't a problem, but some states just try to find ways to make money....

I have replaced all interior lights, the driving lights, side marker, and the license plate lights with 194 or 2825 6 led white from www.superbrightleds.com about $3 each. They are not as bright as the standard bulbs, and have a slight bluish tint to them. In fact compared to Xenon (HID) headlights they look almost blue. I had to use the grind tool on my dremel to make the Map lights fit though, because they are a wider diameter then the stock bulb. Once you have the map light assembly out of the car, you can use a soft tipped tool to pop the clear lense off, then remove the reflector to grind it down. I think the 4 led's fit stock though. I will tell you that having someone with small hands helps a lot when doing the driving bulbs, and even then i lost 2 in the headlight assembly. which required removing the bumper, and assembly to shake them free.

i have no idea what you are talking about.

The 6leds 194 from SuperbrightLeds fit fine in the maplights. you shouldn't have to grind anything down. I know this because that's what i have in my car right now.

I changed out the door lights at the bottom of the interior panel to red, i used bulbs instead of led's because they fade when you unlock the car

LED's won't fade/dim when turning on or off? or am I mis-understanding the above?

I was looking at changing to Red LED's but if they don't slowly turn on or dim when turning off I think I would rather stick with the bulbs.

NO they don't fade. They kind of blink once or twice when they would be normally fading on.

Hoosteen do you know which type you got from them? I noticed that they have about 3 diff 6 LED 194's. I can't remember which ones I got but they are much fatter then stock bulbs.

has anyone used the matrix setup from autolumination? I'm wondering if it'll fit in the old socket.

car looks great man, there are only so many colqrs one can chage to still make the light usefull (blue, white, red) i think the rest would just be annoying. your puddle lights are pretty cool as well. wish we had that here in the states.

I am thinking of doing this to mine, but I don't want to deal with any cops...my 30% tint makes me nervous enough...(so far so good)
