Removing upper panel (center console)... How the hell?
I'm installing the Neo Ion but I can't get the upper panel off (the panel around the shifter)! How do you "detach clips A"?!?! I've tried the electrical tape-wrapped screwdriver, but I feel like I'm going to snap something!

Somebody clue me in, it's probably something really really simple right? because it's not explained in any DIY's I've searched through...

Put a finger in back of hand brake and simply pull up, may help if you have gloves on, and pull on the gaitor ring at the same time.

I found the easiest thing is to pull up on the shift boot. It will free the front of the piece and the rest will be easy to remove.

....give it the 'boot'!

Grab a good wad of leather on both sides and reef! The only way you can break clips is if you don't lift straight up.

Put a couple of layers of masking tape on the silver portion of the console and pull straight up. It does take some effort so don't be shy.
