Removing Dashboard - need some help - installing LEDs
Hello everyone,
I decided I would try and put in some interior led lighting, but don't quite know how to get to the places I want to. I need to remove the dashboard but cant exactly get past the foot guard. I have an automatic 2005 rx8, the stock package.
I'm looking to pop out the spare switch controls to the left side of the steering wheel. So if anyone has any tips on getting that area cover out, it would be most appreciated. I tried to look on other threads but couldn't find any that matched my model.
I also wanted to get to the middle vents (the rectangle shaped ones) but not sure if I can access them after taking out the radio (didn't want to open up without being sure). So if anyone can confirm/ help me with these two issues, or link me to a thread that tells how, that would be great!
- Bryan.

There is a DIY on installing the nav housing that covers dash removal. As for your vents...after the radio is out there are two bolts on the bottom and 5 clips across the top...it's also in the DIY.

The switch panels are easy , but there's a trick to em. Lay down on your back looking up under the dash and reach up into it till you find the blank switch plates. Rather then spending 15 minutes pushing on them like an idiot (Like I did) squeeze the back of them together and push them forward and they should pop right out with very little force. The clips that hold them in place are on the top and bottom of each switch panel, so when you squeeze the back of the panel they should release.
Vents have been covered. pull the radio and the vents come right out with 2 bolts and a couple plastic clips
