Re-programming start-up screen
Re-programming start-up screen
I tried searching for this but couldn't find anything about it. I was wondering if there is a way for us to reprogram the start-up message on the RX-8. You know, the one that says mazda RX-8 in the red LCD panel next to the clock. Any ideas?
your going to have to update the firmware of the DVD unit...my outlook? not going to happen...but if you know some really good programmers
Mikeb points out a much more important thing...getting that damn warning screen off...geez is that annoying

I think a company named Denso Corporation wrote most of the firmware and software for the 8. I seriously doubt anyone can make this hack work.
I don't have a Navi. I'm talking about the part on the radio display, like SHOWOFF said. Just wanted to change it to say something else besides mazda RX-8, that's all. It's the lcd part that shows the radio stations, but at starup, it'll say mazda RX-8.
I wishMazda had thought alittle about aftermarket interior mods before theymade such a pain in the *** stock head unit. Thanks to the design its nextto impossible to change the LED or anythingmajor. The "CD player look" may be great butits not even functional.
The firsttime I saw the head unit on the Rx8 I thoughtto myself "holy **** - the front of the stereo opens up/collapses foryou to insert CDs and then you close it back up." I was kind of disappointed whenI found out it was just for looks and there was justa normal insert for CDs. Thatwould have been really impressive. Then againIm not so sure how well CDs would play vertically.
If therewerent anything better to blow a couple grand on (like a turbocharger) I would tryto find a shop that could create that for me. It reallydoes seem like the head unit could fit oneof those open-up CD players comfortably. You could relocate all of the buttons to the current CD insert area. Yeah thiswould be a truly unique design - but not quite worth the bucks.
