So I brought my 2 week old RX8 into the dealer today to have a constant rattle that is coming from the rear of the drivers side.

They dealer told me they were unable to locate the source and they would have to remove the rear seats and possibly the headliner to locate it and they would need the car for a few days. I told them to forget it because I think that would just make more parts loose and I don't want my car left at the dealer.

Anyone have any ideas on what it could be? Its almost like a wire that had too much play and with every motion is hitting something. I've tried tapping panels to find the source with no luck. Is there something I should check for?

well tell your dealer they are bunch of idiots

for one is it the REAR QUARTER WINDOW? cause that is a TSB and should be fixed by them in a few hours....there are two fixes.

if not then you can tell them they are a bunch of idiots...considering I've taken apart almost the entire interior of the car and the trunk in an hour and a half (on my 3rd time doing it they must have done it 50 times each)

check if it is the rear quarter panel window first...do so by slowly letting out the clutch which will cause the car to shudder (this is normal) if the quarter panel starts making noise (have someone sit there as you do it) then it is an easy fix and we can even give you the print out of the official MAzda TSB to bring to them

Thanks I will give that a shot. I have to go to this dealer tomorrow because while they were trying to repair the car they made the interior a mess. I have the Shinka and the leather now looks like its a shade of brown its so dirty. This was after they were supposed to pick me up today and never did and when I called to get my ridefrom them to pick up my car they told me that no one could get me and I would need to call a cab. I was furious and told them someone better come pick me up they did but now unfortunately the interior has to be fixed.

after they clean the car definitely go to a different dealer...there are lots of LA guys here that will recommend a better place than this

Do you have that TSB? Just checked it out with my wifeand she thinks its the rear quarter window is where the rattle is coming from. Thanks for your help!
