There is another power point (lighter) in the center compartment.

Risky Business.

This isn't talked about very often, but I have a 5 minute DIY for hardwiring a radar detector / navi / whatever. Cost is less than $10.

1. buy a "mini add-a fuse" from an auto parts store.

2. plug the add a fuse into position #1 in the fuse panel on the driver's side footwell. There is a bolt for ground just above the fuse panel, behind the lower plastic.

3. place the original 15A fuse into the add a fuse, and use a 1A fuse (comes with the add a fuse) for the new circuit.

4. wire the detector. Place wire under the rubber moulding up to the white plastic "A" pillar cover; under the pillar cover, and under the front of the headliner to where you want the detector. (I have my detector just to the (driver's) right of the rearview mirror - the pass. sunvisor still works).

5. Done. The wire is completely hidden.

6. Removal in future would take about 60 seconds.

My Valentine One uses regular telephone wire as it's power cable. A dollar store has 10' sections with plugs on each end.

Or, you can follow any of the DIY's where you can remove the sunglass holder / map lights and tap those wires....
