Quick Speaker Installation Question

Quick Speaker Installation Question
So I am following the DIY for the rear speaker install. I am installing infinity reference 9612i speakers.
Edit:
New question below about the reference 6810cs on the front door install.

Hmm, I think I may have just done a crap solder job. I cut the wire and resoldered and it sounds pretty good now. I expected a much bigger improvement from the stockers though.
Still would like to hear comments from everyone.

No, I didn't add an amp. From what I read if I bought 4 Ohm speakers and installed them they would work well with the power provided my the stock system.
Would the amp make a dramatic difference without adding in woofers? (I don't want to put in woofers)

this is a matter of some debate --
aftermarket speakers do sound better than the stocks and work on the stock HU
although i think if you turn it up very much then you're not going to get near as good of sound as you could if you had an amp.
but adding an amp is alot of work. so it depends on what your going for as to if you really need to do all of that --
for you I would just go back and check all of your connections (use the audio install sticky thread for reference) and make sure everything is good and be happy with what you got.

Thanks for the information.
I finished installing both speakers and put everything back together. Once I had the second aftermarket speaker in the sound difference was very noticeable-in a good way. I turned it up to 20 and it wasn't too distorted or anything.
I think I just had a bad solder on the first speaker like I said before.
I don't want to mess with putting in an amplifier right now. I think these will make me happy for at least the next year :D
Right now I'm taking apart the door pannel for the fronts. The 6810cs came with a crossover box but I don't have to use that since I'm not using an amplifier, correct?

The crossover box is for your tweeters (it sends only the high notes to the tweeter and everything else to the speaker)-- i'm not exactly sure how to hook up aftermarket speakers and tweeter to the stock HU - because i'm not sure how (or if) the stock tweeters have a crossover somewhere.. but you probably want to hook to crossover input from the wire going into the main door speaker from the HU - and then out to the speaker and to the tweeter.
do you understand what i'm sayin? i know it's alot thats hard to explain in just words.. Also i may be wrong about even needing the crossover box if i am hopefully somebody around here will correct me, but it can't hurt having it there.

Hmm, what you are saying makes sense.
I've been searching and I'm either not understanding or not finding the answer to this.
The stock tweeter has the built in resistor so the new tweater will need the crossover box to not get blown.
Can anyone answer this?
Should I be wiring both the tweeter wires and stock woofer wire into the crossover and then route out to the woofer and tweater from the crossover?
OR
Should I take the stock woofer wire - wire that to the new woofer. Take the stock tweater wire - wire that into the crossover and then go out from the crossover to the tweater?

I think i'm just over thinking this since I haven't ever installed speakers before. I'm going to cut the wire that goes to the stock woofer and put that as my amp line into the crossover and then wire out from there.

i have the 6810cs in my car. i cut and taped off the tweeter wire (not using). the speaker wire going to the mid woofer i ran to the x-over. off the x-over i ran to the seperates.
i have the 6812 as well. no amp.
fantastic improvement but no more bass.

Either way, as you stated in your next post, connect the stock woofer wires to the input of the crossover & then properly connect the new woofer & tweeter to the crossover output.
