Unfortunately tubes are ok for pick-ups and hatch-backs. Vehicles W/ trunks usually require a good ol-fashioned box & amp combo.

I had 2x10" Bazooka tubes in the trunk of a car I had in the late 90's. When one of them blew, I got a Kicker Comp 12 (back before they were weak, I think the claimed power was 400W RMS, which somehow dropped to 280 when put in a small sealed box..) I built my own small sealed box (poorly,) but the Kicker had a lot more power than the 2 bazookas. I don't remember what I was powering the Bazookas with, but wasn't much less than the Hifonics Sampson I powered the kicker with. The Kicker had a ton more punch (because of sealed box,) but the bazookas were louder on extended bass.

You get what you pay for.

THis is what I got, and it is in my minda perfect match for the RX8. It fits in the cubbyhole in the trunk, is loud enough, leaves enough trunk room, and realistically is lighter then anything with comparable sound. I paid $425 shipped from ebay.

Have you ever heard this unit? No I ddin't think so. That Alpine unit will blow away all but the best of single 10 setups....

Depending on the sound you are looking for I would go with either a 10" P2 or 12" P2, my personal opinion there a semi inexpensive sub that sound good when put in a $30 sealed carpet box. And it doesn't take much amp to push it, of course you not going to get outside the car thump but inside it should sound decent.

If you listen to alot of rock I woud consider a 10" because they tend to hit harder and thump better. If you like swooping low bass and hip hop I would go with a 12" they don't hit as hard but they sound better swooping.

Again my personal opinion..

yea i would say get one of those zenclosure dual 10" boxes for 100 bucks or so from ebay, get two infinity reference or kappa series subs (about 50-80 each from ebay), then get a buddy who works at best buy like i did to get his discount on the Infinity 1600a Mono amp and Rear 6x9 references. Well, thats the setup i have except that im waiting on the other sub to arrive and i have to say its the best sounding system ive heard in any of mine or my buddies vehicles with just one sub right now. You cant beat the clarity and the kappa subs have a low 24hz frequency for low bass of a 12" without filling the whole trunk with bid *** speakers! hope i helped

btw: i paid about $180 for the amp and $60 for the 6x9's. $100 for the box and $160 for the two 10" kappa series 102.7W
