Question Question about speaker/amp install

hi guys--

so i recently decided to finish my system off after about two years of messing with it and just finished everything today but seem to have created a problem in the process. hopefully someone here has an idea for me.

i have a jbl bp600.1 hooked up to my alpine type rs. the input comes from the rear speaker output of the bose amp and goes into the high (speaker level) input on the amp and i have speaker wire running out from the amp to the subs.

i also have an alpine vpower f450 4 channel amp powering my after market speakers which are focal components in the front and infinity 3 way coaxials in the rear. this input also comes from the speaker output of the bose amp (both front and rear) and goes into the high (speaker level) input on the amp. I then have speaker wire running out from the amp to the factory wiring of the front speakers and directly to the rears.

as of this morning i had the subs running off the sub amp, the rear speakers running off the 4 channel and the front running off the bose amp but i moved them over to the 4 channel this afternoon and added their inputs but now my subs aren't working as well. my thought is maybe since i tapped two amps off the speaker out of the bose amp that it can't handle it and the 4 channel it taking over?? i know this setup is not ideal since i'm using speaker inputs instead of the loc or lc7 or something but i wanted to run it this way until i decide if i want an aftermarket head unit or not.

does anyone have any idea why my subs would quit working well? they're still playing but very very quiet even with full gain, the amp is ok, fuses are ok, wiring is ok...

thanks in advance. i'ma sleep on it and see what i can make of it tomorrow.

dondo,

i had almost the same problem in my 8 when i just threw in my sub for a night. heres whats wrong.....ohms.

remember our 8" speaker leads and 6x9's are running 2ohm and thats whats being sent from the amp. while all our tweeters are running 4ohm. the problem is that you are showing your subs virtually a 1 ohm load to the amp so they hit hard if your amp can stand a 1 ohm load. so thats an answer to your sub problem.

the same kind of applies to the 4ch problem. i tried tapping in before the bose amp and it worked better but it needs a LOC at minimum. However if your debating on getting an aftermarket HU my suggestion is do it. It takes the guess work out of amps and wiring.

any other questions let me know.

good thought! so how can effectively separate the output of the bose amp to share it as inputs on both of my amps? i was thinking maybe move back to a cheap navone loc for now but i guess i'd need two since i need 4 channels for the 4ch amp and 2 for the sub amp?

thats the problem with bose. (no highs no lows pain in the a** must be bose). you can take the output after the amp of the tweeters and use them for your 4ch b/c they are 4 ohms. so put a 4ch loc onto them. problem for 4ch solved.

but I recommend (tho debated) to get the sub's loc wires before the bose amp. you can hook that loc up to speaker leads (either the 8" or 6x9's) before the amp so than you still get a 4ohm load.

thats my opinion. but feel free to do other research if you want.

But my recommendation is just skip all this and work on getting an aftermarket HU because than you can individually control the 4ch and subamp from the headunit and give better tuning options. goodluck. if u need help or ?'s let me know

well i had my subs running for years off the output of the bose amp without a loc into the sub amp. when i used the loc it didn't perform as well so i switched to the speaker inputs..
