Push Button Start Question

I'm selling my 370z because I just had a kid so I need 4 seats, and the RX8 is the only car that fits my taste.
I love never having to take my keys out of my pocket to enter or even start my car.

Are there any aftermarket modification for the RX8 that allows this?
I've been hearing of one mod, but you still have to put the key in the "on" position. I'm looking for something exactly like my 370z's system.
Money is not a factor.

^^ I think with the series-I cars, you'd still need to insert the key in the ignition, even if you have pushbutton start... kind of defeats the purpose.

The 2010 only comes with it if you get the GT model or above and append it as an option. Sport model doesn't come with this feature.

Keyless start was available on the RX-8 after 2006 I believe. You get a little credit car looking thing that you can keep in your pocket and then you turn this to start and the drivers side door and trunk have buttons to open them:

This is not a real "pushbutton start" in my book... you have to turn this permanently attached key instead of pushing a button. But you are right, there is no need to insert a key, it can stay in your pocket.

Meh push button is gay anyway, my bosses Porsches and benz's all have it, you still need the stupid remote in your pocket and I don't like **** in my pockets anyway. At least some have true credit card keys that can go in your wallet and then you don't need anything, that is cool. For me it's okay for chicks who carry purses but for me I just carry my single key, it's good enough for me.

same thing here, but modding the "permanantly attached key" to get a real push button would be nice...

i hate those kind of key, those slim ones, way too big in my pockets

This place sells a product to add wireless keys. It looks pretty slick, when you walk up to/away from your car it locks/unlocks your doors.

They've recently added a kit to do keyless starting, and although I haven't looked into it much it seems to me like it would be a headache. You'd probably need a bypass for the rx8's interlock (rfid key, whatever you want to call it) and you need to hook up a starter kill relay since you'll be leaving a proper key in your ignition all the time. But the kit does include a **** that fits over your ignition, or you can drill a hole in your dash and get the push-button kit.

the prob with these kits and the idea is the steering lock. i've got keyless ignition and still couldnt do true pushbutton start. the "ignition cylinder" is made to be tamper proof, ie - you break it open to remove the steering lock, and it never goes back together. ask me how i know.

the best practical solutions still have downfalls that negate the cool factor. having to permanently leave a key in the car, having to still rotate the key assembly to ON, etc etc

Key Help

I am very stressed out. I have researched and researched for my RX8 key ****...
I just spent $42.00 from Online Mazda Parts.com! And they send a piece of plastic that has no insides that falls on the floor because there is nothing for it to hold on to. And now they aren't helping me. I need to send it back and I am not getting any help!
SOMEONE REALLY NEEDS TO TELL ME WHAT PARTS THESE ARE! Here are the pictures.... One of the **** I just got with no insides... One of my old broken one.. then I realized it comes apart.. So ALL I NEEDED WAS THE PART THAT SNAPS IN.... But no one has any idea.
AND I DID ASK MAZDA DEALERS! AND SEVERAL PARTS STORES! AND WAS TOLD I NEEDED THIS PART ,,,PART NUMBER NF51-66-141A02.. THAT IS WHAT I ORDERED. And it is MISSING THE INSIDE! SO WHAT DAMN PART NUMBER IS THE INSIDE??????????????????????????

I have researched and researched for my RX8 key ****...

....yet you don't take ANY responsibility for not knowing what was broken, what parts to order, or how to put them together.

then I realized it comes apart.. So ALL I NEEDED WAS THE PART THAT SNAPS IN....

....but still no clue what you're doing or where to put it.

But no one has any idea.

...so now it's OUR fault?

Key ****

I did a test today.. as long as I have the key card in the car, I could turn it on with pliers....

So I am wondering if there is a random key out there that would work?

Any ideas?

Use the key that slides out of the key fob.

My advice would to put on a miniskirt, keep the ditzy attitude, and walk yourself to the dealership.
