Power to head unit, need some help
Hey there everyone! I need some help here. I have added a reciever where the ash tray goes, and kept the head unit as is. Of course, the problem I have just run into is now that the power is going to the new cd player, no power is going to the hu. And that means the display is gone, and all the power to the ac as well. How can I get power to both? I'll be sure to put up pictures and a full description once I get power. Thanks all.

splice the wire and run it to both, i doubt the extra unit will blow the fuse.....gee that was a hard one :D , now post the pictures!
P.S. you could also splice into the cig lighter power.....it is only on with with the key

K, I decided I needed to be more specific. The problem is that I took the wiring harness and connected it to the aftermarket cd player. I know that the power cord is in that wiring harness, but I need to figure out how I can keep the wiring harness going to the new cd player as is, and find a way to get power to the head unit. How can I plug up the power to the hu without the wiring harness? But here is another thought,,,,,,,what if I had two wiring harness, and had them all connected? Would both units work? I figure if I got another harness that would be the easiest way to connect power to the hu, and just split the power lines to both of them, but what would happen if i did that to every wire???? Help!! =)

ok...after reading this i would say that you should use the factory harness for the factory hu but cut the speaker out wires. use the harness that came with the after market unit and connect it to the speaker wires that were connected to factory harness. use the cig lighter wires for power and disconnect the ant. wire from the factory hu and hook it to the after market one. (WARNING: DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU HAVE THE BOSE SYSTEM) the bose system uses a differental signal to the 3 amps... splicing into those wires will cause terminal problems. if you have the the bose system you can still do this but you will need use a two way line converter which will convert the signal from a floating ground circuit to a common ground circuit. you are better off just the dump the bose amps anyway, then you can put any speakers you want in there.

Original Turbo 'd Auto !!
Pics would be cool. I was looking at the Sony XD7500 Hu because it kinda sorta matches the interior. Red backlight and rotarty ***** and clean looking. I want to hide the stock HU BUT now there is the problem of filling in the hole. Somewhere a plate was made for a after market HU but looks FUGLY IMO. Someone has to make a acceptable dash plate...
