FL Poor man's attractive cracked Dash Repair

Hide it. Save $300. My artist wife thinks it looks cool. Takes one's eye away from vertical cracks so they are invisible.

I found a pair of these exterior brushed chrome decals online for $5 delivered.

Just long enought to cover the 9.5" horizontal crack of the airbag door.

I got two so I have a spare for when this one gets ruined.

Kind of tricky to get the paper backing off but it can be done with a razor or sharp knife. Cleaned surface with alcohol to remove debris prior to attaching and so far so good.

I overlapped the crack only 1/8" so no way will it interfere with the airbag function. Not all that sticky either so will pull right off.

They have 10 sets left.

Yeah, that crack will spread into a square pattern so your fix is temporary.

lol I wish this would work for mine, but dreams and wishes don't do the dishes. My dash is FUBAR.. Like tree roots growing off of the full H crack going everywhere. Might try this anyway, even though it will most likely look horrible.

Plan B came in mail today for $8 delivered 10" x 10.3" can be juggled around to cover worst cracks and pick your color. Mazda Logo Emblem 3 6 RX8 MX 5 Miata Car Window Truck Laptop Decal 10" x 10 3" | eBay Nice quality vinyl with good instructions. Separate the MAZDA to hide the horizontal crack and overlay the logo circle to hide the others.

For the "full" H 3"x 9.5" rectangle I also considered doing a "faux speaker" with some nice material only held in place on the edges. That would look functional and nice yet not restrict the bag. One could use overlapping pieces at the center main crack too for even less restriction for the bag.

Anything beyond that I recently got another slightly cracked cover on the cheap as a standby. Slightly cracked dash covers should be readily available really cheap.

If one could get thin enough vinyl material and only glue it along the side edges of the cover one could recover the whole dash piece with new vinyl and certainly the airbag would still deploy simply blowing it off harmlessly. I will try this if I end up with a crazy spiderweb like you describe. This would cost $20.

If I still have my car in 3 years and plan on keeping it due to sudden collectability(?) I'll spring for the 2009 improved one.

**Otherwise it will end up being just another clean FL 12 year old low miles car with a typically cracked dashboard under an ugly aftermarket cloth dash cover.
