Well this weekend I'll be attempting to install the PIE M-Bus adapter along with an iceLink from Dension to control my iPod via the steering wheel. I'm the first person to do this (according to Dension) so they gave me free shipping if I photograph what I do and give them feedback on the product. Can't wait to get it working.

Bose - no CD6 - no Nav - ver 9.67

I think I might wait to see how your Icelink goes before doing mine. Sounds very interesting...

Pics will follow once it gets done... soon.

Edit: Sorry, I goofed... :o - the RCA cables will run to the trunk, not the ashtray. They will run in the center console all the way to the back where the hard drive unit for the MP3 player is mounted.
From there, a separate cable will go to the ashtray for the aforementioned wired remote.
same here stuck with dbbl sided velcro.. or was untill i removed it cause it does not work

Yeah, I've used both of these mounting places. It's now under the HU stuck there with double-sided mounting tape. RCAs are run through the centre console and come up for air through a hole I drilled right next to the power socket in the console.

A new HU OUGHT to have new firmware installed. That's how I got my 9.67. The dealer fried my original HU and had to replace it.

IceLink iPod install went very smoothly. Check out my other thread talking about what I did: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...694#post512694

I ordered a new head unit from Rosenthal for $217. I HOPE it is the latest revision so I can use my PIE adapter. I will let everyone know how I make out. It should be here on Monday.

That's not bad... especially if it's new enough to add the satellite radio option down the road.

That sucks... maybe find a place that rents RX-8's? They'll never need the PIE aux-in

Have you tried the PIE adapter, or are you simply telling us what your setup is?

BTW...I purchased a new HU from Trussville hoping to get a new rev version for the $212 and guess what...I got a 9.53 shipped to me. Now I have two of these dinosaurs. Anyone interested in using my extra for development let me know. I will work out a trade for whatever solution you can come up with for the unit.

I have an August 03 build with a 9.55 HU. Does this mean I can pipe in satellite radio directly without using the FM modulator?

Folks, this thread is already long, and it is difficult enough for someone to sift through it to get any information on what has worked and what hasn't, without irrelevant stuff like this being brought up. So please leave the off-topic discussions (including those about flashing head units) out of this thread. Thank you.

Matt, it's great to hear that your aux-in is working!
It's also good to know that you can help others with the older HUs.

It's so cool to cruise around with 20GB of music on tap and no discs to change!

YEs !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it makes me happy. NOw my video and my Aux connector are hooked into the HU. So you can sit in my passanger seat and plug in whatever you have and see it on the LCD and hear it direct no RF crap !!

Thanks again for your help to. if we had not done that exchange we would all still be in the dark.
