I do have the ipod adapter .... does this mean I can play movies from my ipod?

Well, one problem is you posted this question in the Series II Interiors section of the forums, while that is a shot of a Series I sat-nav pop-up screen. I have the same series and get the same screen if I have the iPod on with the sat-nav running and turn off the stereo. Pressing the Position button brings back your map.

In Japan, there was (is?) a TV tuner option for the vehicle that would allow that to be sent to the screen - it doesn't work in North America. You're just seeing a menu screen since your iPod adapter is using the same interface that the TV tuner would have.
