PIE Install Thread?

I know there was a thread for a DIY Head Unit removal a while back. I did a search and I didnt find it. I need to install my PIE box this weekend. Anyone know where the thread is?

I cannot find the other one either.
I copied the missing dyi into a .doc back when I read it.
I will check when I get home to see if I have it.
If so, I will let you know.

Why do you need to know? Just pull up on the boot and the entire console pops off.

...carefully.... there's tabs on either side and at the back that break really easily

The best step-by-step I found was this on:

http://www.whatsmyip.org/ipodrx8/1.php

Though it's meant to show you how to 'hack' the tape player for Aux input, it shows real well how to open up the dash and get to the head unit pic by pic.

thats the one!

I installed my PIE that past Wednesday and used the thread you were looking for as a guide to remove the head. I ended up mounting my PIE inder the dash where the NAV unit goes. The removal was easy.

I spent like 20 minutes lookin for that damn bolt that holds the headunit in.....ONLY to find the dealer didnt replace it when they swapped out my defective CD changer! I dont really care, but it would be nice if I knew it so I didnt spend 20 minutes like a monkey on my back lookin for the damn bolt! Is the EX1 always suppose to flash when you are using the PIE?
