Pie Adapter = Japanese Screen?

Last night, I was driving home from Vegas while listening to XM through the PIE adapter. I have the navi screen up and when I turn the power off to my radio, my navi screen displays "TV" and a whole sting of japanese characters.

This only happens when the "aux" is flashing and not when it's on cd or fm/am mode. Does anyone know what this is or what causes it? I think I've seen a screenshot of the Japanese posted before, but I think it was in reference to something else.

Before anyone even considers flaming, I searched, but couldn't find anything.

P.S. I got my first speeding ticket in 13 years last night on the way home. 98MPH... won't be driving like that again!

actually the pie is engaging the TV tuner menu in the nav that don't exist for NA rx8

in japan you can actually get a tv tuner form the dealer/factory and not only does it have tv but an aux video and audio in...damn america

oh and if you are thinking about ordering this device from japan just for the aux in, for one it costs around $600 usd but more unfortunately there is no wiring harness for it built in like JDM nav RX-8s

my mom translated the message... it says something to the effect: "for your safety while driving, you will only hear sound and enjoy it"

i guess the jdm version disables the video while you're driving and you can only hear audio.

on a separate note, i was talking to a few vendors at sema. a couple of companies out of hong kong are selling the back up cameras, control boxes, and sensors extremely cheap. these are manufacturers and not retails, but they were selling the complete packages for around $25. might be nice to buy a hundred or so and sell them on ebay.

This Thread brings me back to my question...
Did anyone of you ever find out what this 16-pin connector is good for? I mean, why did Mazda include this connector?
Could it be possible, that you can splice in a video-signal directly with this connector? I mean 16 pins are quite a lot... :-) This solution would be much better than cutting the wires from the nav.

the connecter is there for a after market CD unit. , and also in japan the JDM cars use it for the T.V. option.

It is normal to see the JDM t.v. screen whtn you shut off the HU with the Nav screen open. This happens withthe Pie or Ice Link pluged in when the HU is off and the LCD is open because the Nav Screen is looking for the JDM T.V. tuner.. And the Blue Safty message is programed into the Nav to come up when it sense this.

So again this is normal.

and no.. you cannot get vidoe to the LCD that way..

But very soon i will have the Plug and play connecter we all are wanting.

As for the cheep cameras and stuff.. I saw all that trash at SEMA . Trust me you dont want those cheep $25 systems. I am going to offer a very nice backup camera . and can get you the Frame Cam now.

hell yea.. its the best one out there. it will tell you almost 100% of the time within a few miles of the local of the radar unit. INcluding airports and Milatary installations. But its Multi Bogi ID system is the best. I can mute the V1 when it tells me theres a Airport like 10 miles away and then it will still signel any other Bogie. SO when Cops hide in Shopping malls and in and around Airports to mask there Radar .. The V1 can still see them and its rear facing Radar Eye really does give you a heads up when there coming up from behind.

If your going to get one get the V1 and the mount the Conceald display in your Radio area. it blends in perfectly . the info is red and its the Steathy way to run the unit so cars around you cant see it in your window and you dont attract a buch of friends .....
