OEM Satellite Radio In '04 (with MP3?)

Hey, I know this belongs in another category but I was hoping I could get as many eyeballs on it as possible before it gets moved... :o

A few questions:

1. Has anyone installed the Satellite radio from an '05 in an '04? Is this even possible? (Yes, I know that you can get aftermarket style receivers and that there are some advantages but I have a strong preference for having everything integrated into the vehicle...) Costs?

2. If you can do this, would a satellite-compatible radio conflict with the OEM MP3 player?

3. If you had this done, would this require one of those tacky antennae above the rear window?

Thanks for the help...

No. No. N/A.

If you could use an '05 satellite module with an '04 head unit (which you can't; the necessary circuitry simply isn't there), I wouldn't expect it to conflict with the MP3 player, since MP3 is still an option for the '05.

Satellite radio requires an antenna. However, there are a variety of places you can install it. My XM antenna is on the back shelf inside the rear window, and I have no reception problems at all. Also, those "tacky" antennae have gotten smaller and smaller -- there's one on the market now that's smaller than a book of matches.

Thanks for the threads... I did try to search and I looked a lot of places and it was hard to tell what was talking about OEM and what was aftermarket...

If you want to go the route of the Mazda Sirius sat,
It will cost you: The OEM Sat Box, Install Kit and a new '05 HU unit.
Aftermarket, 150/190$ for the unit and 100$ for the Pie adapter.
You will also, but not always need a bracket to install the unit, that is if you install
An XM Commander in the ashtray.
(Not an option for me sins I smoke)
The last option, (aftermarket) has the advantage to hook up any audio source
You will likely need, ea. Ipod and the likes.
It's your choice.
But sins you have the older head unit it would be cheaper to go aftermarket....
Both installs require the removal of the HU, sounds hard but it is not.

Will the PIE Adapter allow me to: Use my Kenwood Sirius unit, my Kenwood CD changer (can never have too many CDs), and my Kenwood Keg (can you tell the system in my old car was a Kenwood?)? As best I can tell, the CD connection on this line uses the same 16 pin connector as an Alpine system.
