No Sound from Speakers

My audio unit was working fine until this morning. There is no sound coming from the speakers and the beeps made by controls on the steering wheel have also muted. I have checked fuses and they appear fine. The unit itself appears to be working ok radio stations etc are displayed and the CD timer all appear ok.
The problem appears only to be sound from the speakers. Please help. Thanks in anticipation

You sure you checked both #2 and #11 first off?
Make sure they are plugged in right as well. Stranger things have happened.

BTW........does your lighter socket and/or power mirrors work? If not, it could be #8 in the engine bay fuse box.

Hey,

Thank you very much. I think you have solved the problem. The interior fuse housing appears somewhat prone to passengers kicking the cover off. Mine has been secured with a screw to hold it in place. After checking the 2 & 11 looks like one of them had been dislodged. Everything seems ok now, fingers crossed!! Thanks for your very clear pics and instructions. You are a credit to the RX-8 club.

^.....that makes it easy!

Well...at least some times it is. Every once in awhile I'll get stumped as I'm not car expert by any means.

Actually, there was a dude a couple of months ago that had one of those fuses actually wedged in there on the left side and wasn't even in the slots(and therefore not making contact). Don't believe Engllisg was his first language, so it took pics to help him figure out what we were saying. I took that pic from somewhere(might have even been him) and just labelled it so he could see what the hell we were talking about.

You're welcome!
Glad it was easy next would have been checking and securing the ground, which isn't quite as easy.

Well, the problem is back! Everything was fine but the sound from the speakers cut out again and then returned. Annoying problem. Working ok now but I know it will return. Any ideas???

If the problem is back, it might be that one of your amps are going bad. That would cause a power surge that would blow the fuse.. Just a possibility.

Blowing the fuse....or just sound cutting out?
If not blowing the fuse and just cutting out, then you probably have a loose connection somewhere.
