New to Car Audio, just a few questions

Hiya guys,

I haven't really done any car audio upgrades before. I have the Bose system in my 8. I love it, but it really doesn't have too much bass. Could anyone recomment to me something simple to install and easy on the wallet? I'm looking to spend about $300 tops and am just looking for like a 10" and amp, or one of those enclosures with a built-in amp. Any recommendations would be very much appreciated! Thanks ahead of time.

You can get an Infinity Basslink... a 10" woofer with a built-in amp. Easy to install too.

How does that sound with the volume cranked? I usually drive with my volume set around 20'ish..

Honestly, I'm not sure since I never tried it myself. But I heard some folks saying that it is decent. It has a 200W amp as far as I know. Maybe someone who has it can chime in. I know I saw some pics on this board of one that was installed in the trunk of the RX-8.

yes.. any Sub system with its own amp will make your Bass need go away.

you dont need to sppend much money at all. Buy a good Sub and amp and hook it into the rear channel .

I have a basslink and it is one of the best mods that I did. The bass is significant but not too much.

A great addition to the factory system. It even has a volume control so that you can regulate the bass for different sources.

I've got a Basslink along with the base stereo and upgraded speakers all around. Even though its in the trunk, it is WAY more bass than I need for the stock amplification. I have the gain cranked way down, and the bass at the head unit turned down...I don't know how much more power the Bose puts out than the base (if any) but I am sure its not going to be more than the Basslink can handle.

That's how I got mine! One thing I didn't realize...some versions have the remove gain adjustment, and some do not even have the capability to plug that accessory in. Not a huge deal, but if you're expecting to be able to pick the accessory up somewhere and add it to one that comes without it, you MAY be in for a surprise. I'm betting the older ones didn't support it. I know mine doesn't!

I had a bazooka in my FD running off an external amp. Now, it was admittedly an older one, and one of the smaller-sized units, and I was pretty happy with it for what it was...but I have to say the Basslink is pretty much superior in every sense of the word.

I had a powered Bazooka tube and wasnt happy with it. It was only a 50 watt tube though.
I bought a Phoenix gold 10" sub and a Directed audio 300 watt amp all for under 600 dollars Canadian.
It is plenty, and all I needed to do to enhance the audio.
