Is the navigation really just a navigation or can you also use as a dvd player, if not does anyone have a dvd player with screen or anything similar to suggest.

 

try a search in the electronics forum, I think some were working on a hack to get the nav to read dvd movies...not sure if it has been completed successfully by anyone though

 

Original Mazda Navigation System has NOT dvd player function!

 

DVD is a type of disk. Your DVD nav doesn't have an mpeg decoder, so it can't play movies.

Also, the screen is in view of the driver, no car company is going to allow their stock nav screen to play movies or they will face lawsuits.

 

Factory system does not have mpeg decoder but you can set it up for one. Just starting to research it and it looks like it will cost around $700 to set it up. Search the boards for movies.
