NAV performance near big buildings

When the RX8 is in downtown SF, it cannot receive the GPS signals. That's fine for me, because I don't live in SF. By the time I get there, the NAV knows what direction its going (through the internal sensors). Not today.

I was parked in a parking garage. When I left, the NAV didn't know what direction I was facing. I took a turn to another street, and it thought I was somewhere else (the internal sensors "told" the NAV what direction I was going, but because it had the initial direction wrong, it just kept guessing at where I was). I was just amused at first, because I know how to get to the highway. Then, I was caught in the middle of the intersection and was forced to make a turn. All of a sudden, I was completely lost, because NAV didn't know what direction I was going in. I basically had to drive out of the tall buildings area so the NAV could pick up where I was and where I was going.

It was pretty disappointing, because I've been in that area before and that had never happened to me before.

Any chance your car was turned around in the garage? One of the notes on the NAV is that if the car is on a turn table it can get confused.
