I still need to run the RBC and cover the amp, but i'll get there. Of course the 10w7 doesn't fit in 4080's box though so if you're dead set on that sub, you'll be stuck. |

The single 10 sounds great. I'm actually underdriving the sub a little bit because if you follow the adjustment technique for the amp from JL, it's ungodly loud. This way I have it so i can turn it up with the RBC1 if I want to and it sounds good with everything. I wanted clear tight bass and that's what I got. It can be loud enough to really blow your head off if you want it to. |
That grille is awesome looking, if you don't mind..where did you get it from?..nice setup..i love it
|
Is it hard to wire the amp cables to the headunit?
I think I may just end up paying someone to install the amp and do the wiring...hah. |

I think I may just end up paying someone to install the amp and do the wiring...hah. I could've done all of that myself, but I just didn't want to risk it. Plus, they took out a whole buncha stuff that I didn't know was there so I would've ended up redoing it anyway. If you've never done one before, pay someone to do it and watch. |
That is why it sounds so good. If it was installed by a JL Dealer, you know it was hooked up & level matched properly. Level matching can make or break a system. Ever heard someone's $3000 system thas sounded like azz? That is probably the biggest reason. Peace!!

I'm sorry to say, but you're just wrong. I level matched it myself, following JL's directions in their manual and when I found that those settings were too loud, I dropped the sensitivity just a little bit to bring the volume to a place where it was acceptable and I could use the RBC-1 to boost the bass when I needed to. It's really not that hard to setup and install an amp if you just take your time and follow the directions. |
Damn, I hate when I'm wrong!! That suprises me, usually JL is pretty strict w/ their dealers. They don't want their name on a system that hasn't been tuned properly. You are right, level matching is not hard, however, not many consumers even know about it. Glad that you knew & things turned out great. I can't wait to start trading all the RF stuff from my old car for JL. Peace!!

I won't name any names on stores (Car Toys) but they don't have a clue.

Cool. Not a lot of people putting them under the seats any more. That used to be the only place they went back in the day. Saves trunk space & is usually a lot cooler.

That Jl 10w7 setup is exactly what i was thinking about...is that LOUD or not?? That big ported box is prob 1.5 f3 which is the recommended size of the box. Are you happy with it.
|
can that rotary shaped sub cover be purchased seperatly? and will it fit onto a sub without the 4080 box?
|
Pic of my setup, 2 x 10W7's and a DLS A6 (does 1300 watts RMS) Needless to say its very loud, but its tight and sounds great, Im usiging a MB Quart Raa 4200 for my highs amp and DLS Iridium 8.3's for my component set.
