My Nav is Mentally Slow
ok i think she is mentally slow. given i have the original disc in there from the car, i believe it is an 02 disc. she is just slow compared to my tomtom i had. she doesnt tell you to turn until your basically on top of the turn which resulted in me running laps around the pa turnpike yesterday lol. will a new map disc fix this? i have the latest nav update they sent out in october i believe. im taking it to the dealer on fri to get some warranty work done, maybe i should just have them look at it as well or is this normal?

Stuck in a love triangle
ndtechie are you sure you are not exaggerating how slow it is performing? I mean it is pretty slow, but it should at least be giving you warnings before you make the turn.
Upgrading to the new map disc isn't going to speed anything up. The free upgrade disc you installed doesn't make it too much faster either. The only way to really speed up the performance and calculation speeds of the navigation system is to pay Mazdaparts to install a chip onto the system. Unfortunately this requires you to ship your navigation system's DVD drive up to New York, which means no A/C in your car for however long until you get it back. Then again, you are in Penn so it probably wouldn't be long for it to turn around. I probably would have done this already if it weren't for that inconvenience.
I am not sure exactly how much the performance increases percentage-wise with the Mazdaparts upgrade chip, but I'm assuming it must be somewhat significant otherwise thew probably wouldn't bother offering it.

well yes it does give warnings 2miles, 1mile before. but i noticed this yesterday and maybe it is just standard on this nav that when there are like 3 exits in front of you it doesnt tell you which one until you pick one. my tomtom would be like "in quarter mile, take the exit then bear right" somthing like that. i will need to contact mazdaparts about that. thanks.
