Question Is my CD player dead?

not sure want to see what everyone thinks or has had this specific problem.

Yesterday was working, was having a hard time reading disc (cd-r) ejected and put back in and worked fine.

Started up this morning and CD wouldn't work; kept say there was no disc to eject but there is a disc in the player.

Now, doesn't even say no disc or anything... seems completely unresponsive.

I've read some posts and it seems people have had problems with CD player, but that's probably expected from any mass produced product. Just curious if anyone has had this exact problem.

I took the unit completely out thinking i could get the CD out, but was unsuccessful as it seems locked in there. all plugs/connectors are connected properly.

What do you all think? Really sucks, i have 53K miles and now the f'ing CD player is acting up... figures.

Are there aftermarket kits that replace the existing one but keep the same look etc?

if so what do you recommend?

Yea there are metra kits that will fit our car. Http:www.metraonline.com just search the rx8 and specify the Bose or standard system. It's a little expensive but it's nice. You can get it in the gloss black or the flat black.

Comes with the harness also so you don't have to worry about another part

Put a new factory CD player in and works like a charm. Thank to G3tR3DDY2GR3DDY for the hook up.
