Metra Kit install - Heater control lights and Dimmer

I just installed the metra kit and a Pioneer double din deck in my 2004 GT with Bose. I got everything working, including steering wheel wheel controls, rear camera, remote mic......all except the heater control illumination and the radio dimmer. The metra kit has a dimmer wire and a dash light/illumination wire. I hooked up the dimmer wire to the radios dimmer wire and left the other one disconnected because I didn't have anything to hook it to. I must have missed a wire or something, but I cant find it. Any suggestions?

Neither of the orange wires are necessary. Dimmer/Illumination. Not all cars have or use them.

However the if you really wanted to hook it up, just attach it to little light that goes on in the center ash tray. That way the screen will dim whenever the lights come on. If that's a big deal for you

I recently installed the metra. The two illumination wires on the factory oem harness are 12 volt + and -, and are the same wires that run the lights throughout the dash.

Run only the illumination wire, solid orange (from the smaller 10pin harness) on the metra harness to the radio illumination wire. Do NOT connect the ORANGE/WHITE to anything(just warp the end in electrical tape), it's the 12volt - wire from the factory harness and you'll blow a fuse or cause a short leading to the AC lights not working properly.

What headunit/steering wheel controls did you use?
I'm looking to replace mine as well.
I would like a double din that fits well and keeps steering wheel controls.

Thanks.
