MD Player
Im planning on getting the MD player deck for my 8, but I know it is not offered in the US. Does anybody know how much it is in Japan? And will it fit the US models?
Thanx in advance!

I'm getting one. Just not sure if I'll get the dealer to install it or try it myself..... since I'm a complete noive when it comes to this, it might be safer for me to have the dealer do it.

I'm seriously thinking about adding the MD player. I bought my 8 off the showroom floor, and it only had the single CD player, so I'm also debating between the 6-CD changer and the MP3 player, undecided on that account. Back to the MD, though... I removed the fascia to investigate the actual manufacturer of the head unit (turned out to be FMS Audio [a company created by Ford, Mazda, and Sanyo to manufacture automotive audio equipment]) and removed all the little red screws to see how it all was held together. My point? The modularity of the system goes like this:
+ CD; Changer; MP3 (whichever you have) is mounted on top
+ AM/FM receiver is sandwiched in the middle, and connected via matching ports on top of the receiver and bottom of the disc unit
+ Cassette or MD unit mounts below the receiver and connects via matching ports on the bottom of the receiver and top of the cass or MD unit.
There IS a 16-pin rectangular (MOLEX?) connector on the back of the... I think it was the receiver, don't remember exactly... anyways, I don't know whether that will be used in the MD addition, or if there's any possibility of using that for an external changer unit.
Sorry for the rambling, just wanted to add my 2c.
