Mazda Footwells vs Neons vs Leds?

Im not feeling the darkness inside my car at night, so i want to get something to light it up.

Right now Mazdas offering me 15 percent off the footwell lamps (I got a coupon in the mail) they're still going to be kind of expensive but its just 100 dollars. The neons off ebay are way cheaper which is the reason why im considering buying them instead.

i want them to stay on while in driving home, and im not sure if the neons might be too visible to outsiders (cops I could careless about everyone else)

i really like how these came out.

https://www.rx8club.com/attachment.p...8&d=1167047037

any suggestions or alternatives?
i couldnt find the pictures of the red neon lights but i really like how they look.

im thinking 2 in the front (driver/pass.)and 2 in the back on the sides(neons)
could someone post a picture of their switch to turn them on? oh also i read that leds are more reliable so that could be another option.

im probably going to need red bulbs for the little door lights as well.
if i find a good and cheap solution im getting clear corners!
i also want red lights in the dome at the top but it might be over kill.

What do you think about red in the front and blue in the back? I might try that!

Ummm...

I like both so I don't want the pinky/purle color you get when you mix the red and blue so I might just have the blue at the back and the red up front since my car is VR with Red/blk interior.

The price is $50 shipped for red or blue. It includes an entire kit with detailed instructions.

Here is a picture with half red half blue:

Since the two colors run at different voltages, doing two colors basically requires two stripes, just on the same board. If you want that, I can do it. Price would be a bit more because of the above reason.

dude, go to autozone, look atand choose the tiny 6 inch or smaller color LED's. Cut off the end piece where it plugs into the cigarette lighter, strip the wire by seperating ground from positive. Run the positive into the fuse box on the left and put it in the radio FUSE (its always on and doesnt drain hardly any power at all). And run the ground into some piece of metal.

I choose tie strings at my the passenger and driver footwell. The entire mod cost $20. No point in buying anything from anyone else.

You sir are absolutely right!

You could go to auto zone, buy neons and call it a day. However, I'm not selling neons, I'm selling leds.

My kit is designed so the average, none technical, person can install the lights in less than 20 minutes and know that it will look good and be bright enough. There is no guess work for the buyer involved. (sometimes, piece of mind comes with a price tag)

I tried the neon route at first because the parts are a lot cheaper, I assure you that neons are not nearly as bright as the leds I offer.

Don't take my word for it, ask all the people that have already bought them...

I agree...I don't know that much about the LED vs Neon's but I do prefer the easier route and quality along with my brightness.

Rotary Rasp-Wht do you think of red in the front and blue at the back seats?

Do you have instructions on how to do the back seats or sides.

I wouldn't do it. I had 4 blue neons set up right where you were talking about and at first I thought, cool. But it will quickly become an eyesore and you will regret wasting money on it. THey look alright at night if you can stand that superbright glow, I think it's more annoying than darkness, but in the day is where they really look bad.

Edit: Not to mention having to hide all those wires.

I'm putting red in the front and blue in the back so that my car has a glow. The red because my car has rd/blk interior and the blue because I like the glow and it matches my dash.

Check my Thread...will post there once done...

I'm eager to see pics

I'm most likely gonna get red/red so it all matches. The Cusco controller I put in my stereo has red led's too so everything will go together nicely.

Or, instead of using LED's or Neons, use cold cathodes. That's what I did. turns out really well, and they are cheap.

I found some red LED lighting at Kragen for $30. They are super thin and about 12" long for each pair. Tapped into the cigarette lighter and works beautifully.

Most people think it's stock and subtle. That's a whole lot cheaper than $100 and it look just as good and easy to install. This is one Mazda part you can probably skip and save $$$.

Mazda footwells suck...they are too dim. Ordered with my car when bought.

I ordered from Rotary Rasp...and got excellent instructions which I cannot share.
His seem to be pretty bright and they are $50 a pair. Not bad I'd say...

The Mazda footwells are perfect. Subtle… classy… sophisticated. Very grown up.

(But if you want the lights to scream like an "OPEN 24 HOURS" sign, and you're thinking of installing a PlayStation 3, and people can hear your stereo from 2 blocks away… yeah, you wouldn't like 'em.)

Hope your not saying we aren't grown up!! To add; my car will be all this..."Subtle… classy… sophisticated" and then some once I am done and I'm 36.

Many people seem to think they are to dim. Which I agree. I can't even notice when they are on...
