Lost Post about putting subs between rear seats, help me find it?

I saw a post by another member who put in a sub between his rear seats, (it wasnt 16psibrick). I want to see the post, because Im about to have the same thing done, so I want to take pictures to the shop. Can anyone tell me the size of the sub right off the bat?

How does this sound? I plan on adding an 8" sub in the trunk--i'm not totally convinced on the sound quality of the 'sub-between' the seats setup--it is a wow factor for aesthetics tho. I've looked at these threads with a raised eyebrow.

Your convinced that mids and highs sound good firing into the car. Why not the subs? Home subs are in the same room.

The sub wouldn't drown out the mids and highs? And don't some subs benefit from the resonance of the small enclosure of the trunk? What about rear seat passengers? I really don't know and just want some answers:D My experience is that subs in the trunk provide a nice tight bass, mainly because the sound bounce off fewer locations. Or maybe all that is bulls&*!--does the sub firing into the cabin sound better?

How much do you think its gonna run you tamas? Ive been getting (IMO) wilddddddd prices... For just the fabrication of the peice and putting the two subs in it, one guy wanted 600 (not including wiring and amp install etc...) Another wanted 400 for installation + cutting the wholes and putting in subs (I dont even know if he was going to fiberglass it)... Another guy told me I wouldnt have enough air for two subs (I think he was lazy) and told me he'll make me a box and port all the bass to the car and charge me 450... I dont know how much work is involved in just making the wholes and fiberglassing, but is it really worth 600 bucks?? I dont think its really worth over a bill....

Maybe the shops I went to were not hungry enough? I live in an upscale area and the shops are sorrounding the upscale areas, so Im probably in the wrong side of town right? Anyone know any good CHEAP shops on Long Island?

Doing such a thing is apparently expensive. The prices you mentioned sound about the same like the offers I got (so they are not extraordinary).

The phrase "you get what you pay for" is very applicable in this field as well.

Im going to the ghetto shops in Queens (College Pt.) to see how much they want... Its not that much work, the guys said it would take a day, so it shouldnt cost that much to do... If your hungry enough of course

I'd be afraid of the idea of my RX-8 being joyridden by some punks in the shitty 'hoods... but if you're ready to take your chances, go ahead :D

I'll make sure they note the mileage on the work order when I bring my car in :D
If it shows anything different when I pick it up, they'll get hell.

I have a friend that is an installer for Mobile 1 and he does all my audio work--I just take it to his house. He did a nice install in our other friends 95 Seville in which he put a double din tv/dvd/cd unit in the dash and two screens in the headrest. I did think about the sub-between the seats but I don't know if the cost and time justifies the sound quality. But it sure looks good tho.

Personally, a major reason for this is an asthetic factor, and imho, i just dont like the way that looks, maybe Ill go with 1 8" kicker like you did
