I would also hope that's not how they did their testing. With a door open and RTA on a chair. haha And 10db is considered "twice as loud." 3db is considered "a noticeable difference" to the human ears. |

You are correct that 10 dB's 'sounds' twice as loud. BUT it is in fact 10 times louder. 3dB is, or rather was when I worked in this field for 9 years, a universal standard of double sound pressure i.e. twice the volume, energy, or pressure on the ear. Unless they re-wrote the rules of physics, or live in an alternate universe, this will still hold true today. Regardless, I agree, you DO NOT "pink" with an open door. lol. Or... without someone in the driver seat, as the acoustics change with a body sitting there. Lastly, the mic needs to be placed where the drivers head would be, not the middle of the car. (I've seen that quite often) Either way, awesome! It's a rare and pleasant sight to see anyone using them, and hopefully using them correctly. |
