I don't spend too much time in LA but I try and make it out to a meet near LAX once a month. Maybe we'll meet up one of these months.

jedi i'm looking for a little help with some speakers. my buddy that used to do installs is going to make a custom panel in the back for me. my amp went out so thats being replaced. what i might do is a swap like you did. tweeters and all. so when i get the time i'll be looking for some info. p.s. just thought i'd bring your thread some life...

Quote: awesome Jedi! I had seen bits and pieces on other threads, but it is good to see the whole install... It is funny seeing all the panels out of the car does not phase me in the least any more... I know all the fasteners and wires and routing spots!!!
I love the voltage readout on the cap...nice touch. I read mine from the Scanalyzer software on the CarPC....it's amazing how much useful data is on OBDII that people never see... even fuel remaining in 10ths of a percent...as opposed to the crappy needle on the dash....
Anyways, you go me thinking I need tweets in the rear now too, not just the front....
I am extremely happy with the new subs in my car, just a little sparkle up top and I will call it a day...

p.s. my sister just got an apartment last night in Redondo and will be moving there B4 x-mas... I am sure I will be traveling out there in a few months!
Not sure how I missed this post earlier...sorry about that. Thanks for the compliments chambelain! I was originally going to tuck the Cap down by the amp but thought that putting it somewhere visible might add to the "cool" factor.
I soooo want a Scanalyzer, everyone tells me I'm really missing out.

As for the rear tweeters: those are one of the things that I love most about this install. They really do a great job of completing a stereo. I'd highly recommend the Infinity's that I put in but as you see, it's tough to get them back there without a little cutting.

Redondo isn't all that far from where I am...let me know when your'e out in the area, it's always good to meet a fellow rotorhead.

Thanks Scrmn! Sorry to hear about your amp going out, that's a bummer. Although, it could be a blessing in disguise when you do that full system swap. Let me know when you're ready to do the stereo and I'll give you all the details on the speakers, who has the best prices, etc etc.

Man I wish I could hear that.
Looks awesome. Makes me want to organize all the wires in my trunk.
Soon I'll be able to get to OC "quicker", maybe I'll give you a call when I'm in the area.

@Scremn8 -
I happen to know a guy who won an amp at SS9. Polk MOMO 400.4
And I, I mean "he" was going to sell it on ebay but hasn't yet.

Cesar, any time you're down in my neck of the woods, just give me a call on my cell and we'll meet up.
Scremn: The guy who won that amp was a pretty cool guy, I'm sure he'd hook up a fellow SoCal person with a good price.

How did you get the wiring to the amp? Drilled through that bottom storage area? I'm trying to prevent mods that cannot be undone.

Anything can be undone just get another part that is going to be modified.

That is where the salvage cars come into play.

which wires? power came from the passenger side, behind the back seats, and behind the carpet in the trunk.

RCA cables went underneath the center console.

No No No. Getting them to the rear of the car is easy.... once the wires are in the rear, how did you get them from under the carpet into that storage area where the amp is? Drill holes in the plastic tub thingy?

I know there are holes in the carpet underneath the jack storage in the trunk.

Would only have to loosen the storage bin and run the wires underneath and then tighten it down. So it can be run underneath the storage.

Right... getting the wiring there is no problem..... now how do you get through the plastic storage bin to the amp without coming over the top? Guess drilling is the only way..... and guess I'll be mounting the amp somewhere else unless someone wants to sell me their's for cheap.

You can run the wiring underneath.

Just unbolt the storage bin and run the wires then bolt it back down on top of them.

There is no need to run the wires into and then back out of the plastic jack storage area.

(Thought that was explained in my previous post)

Here's the trick to getting the wires to the amp: The storage bin comes with a divider down the middle of it that most likely needs to be cut out if you've got a large amp. (look at my pics again, you can see the hole)
You can either run the wires through that slit OR if you want them completely hidden, like I did then you will cut another small hole into the tray directly beneath the connections.
In order not to smash those wires, I added 4 small pieces of wood (1 in each corner) to elevate the tray a bit so that the wires would lay underneath the tray without any weight on them.
