ipad Nave Set-up

My friend got an iPad. It's pretty awesome. Now I've seen some people do some cool **** with after market navs in the OEM nav-dash (the top part that folds up and down to conceal the screen). I was looking at the size of the ipad and began to wonder if I could get it to fit in there with some modification, and if at all possible have it lock/clip in instead of being built in, so it can be removed easily. Anyone thought about or looked into doing this? I'm sure it's possible, but I have no idea what it would entail. If I get a chance, I'll sketch some pictures of what I'm talking about and post them, though I doub't I'll be able to for another couple weeks.

If this has already been discussed then I'm sorry! I'm at a client site and don't have a lot of time free to search and browse around.

It won't work like a NAV anyway unless you wait for the Verizon version with a constant internet connection and even then the update rate is slow (at least the on at the apple store I played with was). Not to mention it is too big for that location and would just get stolen.

^good points^ I wasn't thinking with the nav not working well. Especially a problem for me since I live where I don't have reception half the time, plus it's a retarded fee for such a limited use. If there's an app for it though...

Thanks for the good points. I get caught up in wild ideas sometimes lol :P

Check this out:

http://www.mp3car.com/

Scroll down and you will see 3 vids by a guy who designed a dash kit for his Subaru WRX. I'm not sure if there's enough room in the RX8 console to do this but he did an awesome job in his WRX. Looks very OEM! Don't worry about it getting stolen as it slides in and out so you can take it with you when you go!
