With the new forum, those discussions may be old enough that they have been "archived." Check the bottom right of any given page and look at the "Archive" link.

www.autolumination.com is where I got mine too. I did the courtesy lights and dome lights in red LEDS. No pics though. No digital camera. I like it but I want it a little more brighter. If you do it, the map and courtesy lights take a 194 bulb and the dome light was a 31 mm (I think). Good luck.

Are they not as bright as the OEM lights?

Red interior lights

My interior lights are red...I installed the under the dash lights from mazda. When I received them in the mail...to my surprise the bulbs are just covered with a orange rubber type cover. I bought some orange covers for my other interior bulbs ...and viola.......It's sweet at night...when you open the doors it's like a soft demon glow..the floor....the roof...and the doors just glow...I get a ton of comments.........hard to post pics.....they dont do it justice at all.........

I also have sunlight silver HiX1276...looks great...but...you need clear corners...bad (damn those North American OEMs)...they take 5 minutes to put the clear ones in...but don't forget to take out the reflector inside or the corners suck at distributing light...

oh and put 194s in there... in minnesota you can have white bulbs on those corner lights so I put in the 194 bright white surround 5 leds from autolumination match my led 194s on the inner lights...looks sweet

Interior LEDs

So, replacing the interior lights with LEDs takes:

2 194 leds for the map lights
2 194 leds for the courtesy lights
1 31 mm led for the dome light

This is assuming you dont have footwell or puddle lights.

Is there any preference on what type of led to buy from autoilluminations? Anybody with the leds installed care to comment?

truemegellen...I do have the clear corners, its has stealth bulbs in it

rot8ryx...the footwell lights I had the guy that installed my alarm set me up with a line that I can tap into. I used those LED light fixtures at autolumination (the circle ones)

mikelikes2drive...I was going to do it all superwhite but it was too bright for me and I wanted to match the blue glow in the tach when u turn the engine off, I just need to know what bulb size is the one right by the ignition switch. It wasnt hard at all, probably the hard one was taking off the map lights. I was scared that I was going to break something. Project cost ,2x194 5LED Matrix Bulbs for running lights ($6.99 each), 2x194 5LED Matrix Bulbs for map ($6.99 each), 2x194 4-Led Bulbs for doors ($3.99 each), 194 Single Led Bulbs-inverted for plates ($2.49 each), 194 4-Led Bulbs for glove ($3.99 each), 4x8 LED Dome for footwells and trunk ($6.99 each), 3x31mm = 1-1/4" Long 4LED festoon bulb for dome and vanity ($4.99 each). The expensive ones was the stealth bulbs for the corners, front and back blinkers ($30.00 a pair) but they look really good.

Thanks for all the comments, ill post more pics when I get my car cleaned. I also just installed my RB exhaust and it sounds awesome, just right.

I had some problems actually removing the casing for the map lights. Did anyone else share the same problem? It felt like it would snap if any added pressure was applied.

This might help.

Give a direct answer moatz

Wayne... there is a metal clip just next to the map light on the side. As indicated in the owners manual, use a "-" shape philip screwdriver insert right at the side around the map light. Poke and Poke ... eventually you will find the metal clip unclick to the roof lining of the interior and it will come off. The trick when you have the s/driver is to find the clip. Just insert directly upward, no need to twist or anything - otherwise may damage the roof lining of the car

Hope it helps.

Taka

P.S. I assumed that you have taken the 2 screws off the front on top of the sunglasses case

the trunk lighting and all of the lighting installation guides are in the basic manual that came with your car...the only ones that aren't are fog lights and auto-leveling HID headlights...but you'll find it around the forums
