What did you replace the door ones with? They look brighter than the ones I have in my car.

I haven't replaced the map lights yet...but when I do, it is going to be with super white (the dome light is blue). I'd like to at least have a bit regular light if I need it

just something that someone mentioned here, if you use coloured bulbs instead of leds in the doors they will fade out

I personally have the hyper whites and I like the look. I'm not a fan of putting in colored bulbs in places that shouldn't be colored. But at least they match your car.

If you use LED's for the interior lights, do they still have the mood lighting effect where they slowly turn on when you turn off the car, or is it instantaneous?

sorry, a little off topic. has anyone ever thought about putting in an LED light that shines down on the shifter? kinda like the Acura RSX, TSX, TL, etc.

My buddy just got a '00 BMW and it has a kind of deep bronze color washed over the center console. It's about the most elegant lighting I've seen in any 'inexpensive' car. There are jsut two small slits in the headliner console with the led's behind to narrow the coverage of the led's.

I guess I haven't seen the ones you listed, but I think it's the same thing you are referring to. Looks awesome.

Map Lights

Is there a secret to getting the map lights out?
I want to replace them but I can't get to the bulb.

pop the clear cover off with a small screwdriver (careful or you will mare the plastic).

the silver casing will just fall out. free access to the bulbs

If you have a manual for the car it shows how to remove the headliner console which houses the lights. It was tricky the first time as a person can't really see where the tab is that needs to be pushed between the housing and the headliner. It should be about the center of the map light.

I bought mine from superbrightleds.com, just picked white ones. Shipping was extremely quick as well. I believe that they have some new bulb models which are even brighter.
