Interest in DTM-style Aluminum shift knob?
Okay, I've finally had it with my stock shift knob in my RX-8. All of the replacements I'm finding are either balls, or "combat grip" knock-offs. I have a friend with a killer lathe, and am thinking about making my own 3" tall, straight sided, rounded top DTM shift knob. Would anyone else be interested in one?
The diameter would probably be 1 3/4", or similar in thickness to the stock triangle knob, and would probably taper (bevel) just a hair at the base. The top would be rounded, or flat with rounded edges. If you're interested, send me a PM. I'm going to check and see what I can get round bar-stock aluminum for right now. Thanks! Eric |
if I understand you correctly, aren't you basically describing the mazdaspeed shift knob?
Minus the aluminum of course..... |
Yes, similar to the Mazdaspeed piece, only made from aluminum instead of urethane and plastic. Perhaps more rounded on the top and slightly thicker in diameter. No Mazdaspeed logo, but I might be able to get the shift pattern on them.
