impressions of the icelink neo.

Hello all,

finally got my ipod hooked up to my RX8 - I had two weeks where i Had the icelink installed but no ipod (was waiting on some money)

I was worried about connectivity issues from what ive read on the forum here, however putting it into "EX" mode it fired right up. It took some messing with but I put the icelink in the mode where you can control whats playing via the ipod as well. (wheel mounted controls still worked as well).

The audio is perfect, just like listening to a real CD, even better if you start fooling with the built in EQ on the ipod.

The one thing ive encountered so far that makes things kinda "funny" is when i set the ipod to "shuffle songs" (all ~500 of them) it works fine, but when im using the steering wheel controls ill hit next-next-next up and when I get to the 10th song i have to let it actually start playing the song (where the number start changing on the head unit display, otherwise it will just loop back to the previous song before it. Dont know if that makes any sense, but in a nutshell there are no delays in actually starting a song or going to the next one until the 10th track, i noticed that once it hits that 10th or 11th song it looks like the icelink "remaps" the track numbers so you can keep hitting next and going thru songs on the ipod.

Other then that, I think it really is worth the money to get an icelink. Very simple installation (just takes some time an patience since I was doing this for the 1st time (ripping into my dashboard and all) A bonus too to having it linked up and the wire running thru the center console back to the cupholders is i can just hide the ipod nano in the back compartment and if someone is riding with me, i can just hand it to them and tell them find whatever song they like

Did you purchase the Icelink from www.mp3yourcar.com? If so, how long did it take them to ship it to you?

Well i was out of town on business so i dont know what day it got here specficially but I would say less then a week travel time. They shipped it within like 1 or 2 days of charging my CC.

Very good experience overall.

I installed my NeoIon (Dension IceLink) from www.mp3yourcar.com. Got it in Saturdaynight, worked ok, but the controls are confusing. Sunday... NOTHING. I've been fighting with this thing for the last 2 days. Driving me nuts. When it's connected I can't play a CD: headunit will switch between CD and EX (EX for ipod) but CD does nothing, blank. When it does decide to work it's slow to respond and sometimes the radio will just turn off. Headunit has firmware 9.73, 30GB ipod photo (4Gen).

Did I get a defective unit? or is there a procedure for startup/shutdown/connect/ CDIN/No CD...
