How to tell the difference between Bose and Base model HUs

I am trying to replace my Bose model HU since my original one fried when the PCM went. I have searched to see if there is anyway to tell but I cannot find how to tell the difference apart from plugging it in and looking for the Autopilot option or lack thereof, which really isn't and option. My question is how can I tell by looking at it if it is a Bose model or the Base model, are there any markings, model numbers, or something else. If they both in fact are the same, is it possible to take a base model and use firmware upgrade or something to make it a Bose model.

the bose unit and the standard unit have some face differences. if you look at the buttons you can tell the difference. Standard has am, fm, cd, and something else. where as the bose has sat. option on it.

RWD+LSD=Zoom:
My radio is a bose system and has the Am, Fm, CD, and Tape/MD with no SAT option, because it is a 2004. I believe the Sat option started in 2005.

RX8Soldier:
I am not sure what purpose looking for the 'bose' name on my speakers has when I already know that I have a bose system and am looking at replacing the HU/headunit/radio receiver part of the system.

Thanks though, more help please.
