How much to install Sirius
Dealers are quoting me anywhere from $600-800 to install Sirius on a car that I have not even bought yet. I thought it was $399 installed. Anyone know a cheaper way to go about it? Obviously I can install it myself, but I didn't think they would charge me to install the receiver.

It cost me an additional $550 to have the dealer install the satellite radio when I purchased my 8. That was here in central North Carolina. I was anxious to have it. After installing my custom radar detector later (see my thread in DIY) I realized that I had to go everywhere the dealer had to go to install the radio... coulda done it myself..that is..can you get the SIRIUS kit without going through the dealer? Anyway, just didn't know any better at the time...and wanted that satellite right away.

I got a Starmate reciever for $49 at circuit city,
Sirius Starmate link
Thew updated my firmware (you might not need to)and PIE adapter (?$80), installed it myself in 2 hours, still have to hide the wires above the dash ( I like the display close to line of sight) but it did not cost me more than $170 or so.

I totally agree with Keyek on this one. I recently saw a unit on crutchfields website for FREE after mail-in rebate. They also sell the installation kits as well. The unit was refurbished though. But I have a refurbished Bose home theater system in my apartment and still manage to knock my neighbors pictures off the wall.

Some Misleading Information
Just to distract you guys I thought I would throw out this link:

At least you can see how things look. Nice $650 price, if it's for real. I ordered through that link and got a reply from Rosenthal Mazda that it is not available yet. Fall 2005, perhaps.
