How do I get the Mp3 player?

Just another random question: If I choose not to get the 6 disc changer, does that mean I automatically get the mp3 capable player?
(I plan on gettting the bose, just in case that makes a difference...)

Thanks in advance.

No, it doesn't. The 6-disc changer and the MP3 plyer are two separate options, and you can't have both at the same time. You have to select either one as an extra option.

Tamas: Thanks for the reply but your response kinnda dodges my question. (I'm not trying to flame, I swear!)

Let me try to reword:

You have to select either one as an extra option
When I'm picking out my car, how do I ADD the mp3 capable player? It isn't listed as an option on the "build your own"
My thought process led me to believe that maybe it was standard since only the 6 disc was listed as an option. Know what I mean?

You would purchase it as an accessory and the dealership can install it for you. The car comes with the standard, one-disk player however you can choose to purchase the mp3 as an addon. It does replace the standard player.

No LivEvil you can play burned CD's in the standard or Bose stereo as long as they are Audio CD's and not CD's with MP3 files on them.

Tamas and aireyc are correct.

BUT... you can play a "burned disc" on a standard single player if you burn-it as a CD-Audio... you'll be able to play that disc in any CD-Player.

If you burn as DATA (MP3's) then you can't play it in a standard single player (or 6-disc changer) but only on the MP3 player for the 8.

If you search this forum there are a number of people that have trouble with skipping with burned data MP3's. I don't have one but it may be better to hook up a MP3 player like an IPOD for a lot less then the deal will charge you for the mp3 option.

Anyone have the mp3 capable unit? If so, what did the dealer charge you?

You can easily add the PIE unit to the head unit that will give you a aux input. Works great with clean sound and it only costs 70 bucks or so. I just installed one and it couldn't be easier. Thew sells them on www.rx8garage.net

I have the mp3 head unit. Don't pay the dealer. Its very easy. There is an awesome DIY in the DIY section you can use to easily install it yourself. It was my first radio installation and it only took me an hour to do it. :D.

Hmm, imagining the possibilities...

Rio Karma AND 6 disc in dash player... :D :D

Okay, so it might be a bit overkill but a guy can dream, can't he?
