Your High beams? like your brights?

if you have standard Headlights (halogen) an H9 sized bulb conversion kit will allow your regular (I guess low beams?) to be HID.

As for the high beams, I am just guessing here, but I think it is possible. However, I would NOT recommend this, because I have HID's in my regular headlight sockets and they are bright, and when I turn on my standard halogen high-beams it gets the job done, you can see very well. I would not recommend it because if another driver catches a glimpse, you will seriously hurt his eyes, and could be dangerous, as there is no housing or reflector to block the direct light.

why...?
do you have your high beams on all the time or something?
it's pointless really...I don't think I've ever used my high beams once in the 8...the HIDs are bright enough

but why? the only time you use them is when there is no one else around on a very dark road.

I have 8000K (about to be 6000K, ordered new bulbs) and I use my bights sometimes.. ya, the light is different, but it's not a big deal.

There is no need to do it, and if you did do it there are risks, if you caused an accident or anything, the other driver could take legal action and probably win.

i use my high beams quite a bit.. I usually drive alot during the night, and also through mountains and such. There are alot of rodents and dear where I drive through, so I want something brighter and more brilliant instead of dull. Basically I want cool light not warm light. I hate warm light...

I would love to do this only to flash stupid oncoming drivers that constantly drive with their highs on.

Some cars have factory HID high beams but most aftermarket HIDs aren't the same. People use high beams to signal other cars by flickering on and off rapidly. Also they need to be turned off at an instant to oncoming traffic. HIDs need to warm up and takes a while to reach it. Flickering it would eventually damage the ballast or bulb.

I recommend just replacing the bulb.

But considering that warm light is easier to see than cool light, and no one else other than you would ever see them on. I dont think it's worth it.

There really isn't a point to HID high beams, our high beams are "focused" at a good point where you tend to look "farther ahead" on the road in front of you. Maybe you just need to aim yours to your liking. You do not want anything above 6k for high beams.

Blue turns organic objects (deer, trees, debri on the road) black.
Whereas Yellow and pure white illuminates these objects better.

Anyway, look at sharphid.com. Good stuff.

what are you talking about!!!!! go for it. its just like any hid conversion plug and play and BLIND lol. i wanted everything 5000k nice clean white no halogens on anything and i swapped mine a month after i bought my car and havent looked back and the light output is twice as bright. i take back roads to my gf house and its dark i always leave them on its like im driving in the day with my hid high beams

a few weeks ago actually one of my headlights was getting water so i took it to mazda for a new one and i put my old halogen bulb in the high beam so i would hear anything from them and i felt like i was blind until i put my hid back on.

id say go for it i think they look sick and nice and clean as long as you dont some gay blue or purple bulb

this topic comes up a few times a year and people always respond what’s the point i don't even use high beams etc...

well i live in the country side no street lights for me, its pitch black once the sun falls only light source is MY headlights. The rx8's front end is extremely fragile and you need to avoid all obstacles in the road to avoid damage.

being able to see things at night saves life’s the brighter your lights the more time you have to avoid.

this summer im thinking I’m going to replace my h9? high beam bulbs with one of the many hid kits i see advertised all over the internet what do i have to lose? btw i have day time running lights and I’m thinking of hooking up a 12v relay inline so that the low voltage DRL's current wont damage the ballast and will only activate when i have my high beams on. Comments???

i wanted to do it for my gf i feel so bad her dad sold her g35 (extreme sadness) for a civic i mean ok new car and great gas mileage it was just cruel and of course now she wants her HID but she wants both HID now since the DRL doubles for high beams on it and she hates that they are yellowy

and its kinda fun to have them on and have everyone flash you to turn them off from a mile away and when the classic idiot driver that swerves in your lane or randomly stops on the high to 40 to flash and blind the crap out of

HIDs need to take time to warm up properly before you can shut them off. So if your in the habit of flashing people or turn them on or off while driving backroads at night, then you probably dont want this mod in the long run. But i guess if your an *** and drive with highs on all the time so you can blind oncoming traffic then this mod is for you?
